The Sony X90J (and its X94J sibling) is simply the best, big, mid-range TV you can currently buy
Lovely, authentic colour balance, Superb motion handling, Solid feature set
Limited blacks and viewing angles, Fairly rough standard-def, Missing UK catch-up apps
Both picture and sound are of high quality. I wish that I had purchased larger size than 65 inches. However, size of 65 inches is probably the upper limit for viewing SD TV channels before pixelation becomes noticeable. The Google TV platform works well, giving me rich sources of contents, either from home made media in my network accessible storage or from the Internet.
Amazing sound. Amazing visual and very responsive as opposed to other TV's
Awesome picture and sound. Google TV is also best onboard operating system I have used on a TV.
In my years of reviewing I've learned that the best TVs made by brands like Vizio and TCL can perform as well as better-known nameplates like Samsung and the TV granddaddy of them all, Sony. The question TV buyers face is whether to pay a couple hundred dollars more for the sleeker design and superior cachet of an "S" brand. The midpriced X90J is Sony's strongest attempt yet to convince you to pony up -- just a bit.
Sony's best 2021 TV value makes another powerful case for spending a bit more.
Excellent image quality; Capable Google TV smart system; Solid connectivity; Subtle, understated design;
More expensive than competing TVs with similar picture quality.;
Great picture and easy to set up compared to others.
This was our first TV purchase for over 10 years, so it is a huge upgrade. Vibrant colours in movies and feels great in games. Just remember that, if you have a PS5 or new console, you have to put the TVs HDMI port(s) into enhanced mode to get 4K with HDR. Really happy with the purchase.
The Sony X90J offers nearly everything we’d want from a mid-range 4K LED-LCD TV. For the money, there are few LED-LCD TVs that can match it in terms of picture quality and feature set, making it top of its class for mid-range models. We don’t love that the TV only has two HDMI ports with 4K/120Hz support, and it has some issues with screen glare, but largely this is a fantastic TV that most folks will absolutely love.
Best-in-class image quality; Excellent upscaling; Cognitive Processor XR; Easy setup and Google TV;
Lingering HDMI issues; Slight screen glare; Mediocre off-axis viewing; Outclassed by X95J
Google TV is a great improvement over Android TV. Full-Array LED is a great cheaper option to mini/micro LED or OLED. Blacks are great and brightness is great for the price. Be aware for motion processing you need to ensure firmware is upgraded. I heard gaming VRR is coming through firmware upgrade. Stand is a bit wobbly. Upscaling looks natural.
