Practical but not great
By the review, people recommend this product with 5 stars when I was making a decision to purchase. It is a good product because you can go from 24 to 240 mm with one lens. The weakness however which defeats the purpose of having this camera is the inability to focus quick enough and consistently.
Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS
As the only native super-zoom lens for Sony A-series cameras, the FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS is a competent, rather than spectacular, optic that's simply priced too high for us to strongly recommend it.
Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS
All-in-one zoom lenses are popular options for APS-C cameras , as the optical sacrifices that come with long zoom ratios are often overlooked by less-exacting photographers. But they're not as common for full-frame systems, as owners tend to be more demanding and in search of top-end optics.- 10x zoom range
- Good center sharpness
- Weather-resistant design
- Optical stabilization
- Intense distortion when shooting Raw
- Soft edges throughout range
- Heavy
Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Review
This superzoom lens adds a convenient zoom option to Sony's burgeoning range of equipment for their full frame mirrorless cameras. The lens is well built, handles well and the addition of dust and moisture resistance is a welcome feature, as it the effective optical stabilisation.- Excellent build quality
- Excellent sharpness in the centre of the frame
- Effective optical stabilisation
- Dust and moisture resistance
- Sharpness towards the edges of the frame isn't up to the standard set in the centre
- CA levels are quite high
- AF is slow compared to similar lenses for other systems
- Can be prone to flare
- Variable minimum focus distance
- Not particularly compact
- or lightweight
Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Review (Review Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS)
The Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens covers a 10x zoom range on a full-frame camera, but makes some compromises to achieve this feat.- 10x zoom range., Good center sharpness., Weather-resistant design., Optical stabilization.
- Intense distortion when shooting Raw., Soft edges throughout range., Heavy.
Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Lens - Brand New review
The Sony FE 24-240mm f3.5-6.3 OSS is a small and relatively light super-zoom which offers a huge 10x zoom-range with the wide end starting at 24mm focal length. Together with a useful 1:3.6 magnification the lens is an ideal travel companion which covers a wide array of photographic opportunities...
Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Review
The new FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS is aimed at a user who values convenience very highly. It is a lens with a 10x optical zoom range, and as such it can cover a huge variety of different shots, from landscapes and portraits to travel, and even at a push some wildlife and sports images.
Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS SEL24240
The lens is decent in 24-70mm range, on the same level as 28-70mm kit lens. It's satisfactory upto about 100mm. Beyond that it degrades quickly and by 150mm it becomes very soft with poor resolution and contrast. It improves a bit by 240mm, but not by much.- 10x range
- optically poor
10x Zoom
Great quality lens for a 10x zoom. I bought to use on holiday and as a walk around lens on my Sony a7mk2 and possibly my a6300. It's a surprisingly large lens and heavier than expected but I'm pleased with the AF speed and sharpness. It's the best 10x ish zoom I've used.
Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Review
While it may not be the lens that many Alpha 7-series users were waiting for, the new Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS certainly fills a gap in the range. With the 16-200mm focal length now covered at f/4 with a series of three zoom lenses – the Zeiss Vario Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS, Zeiss Vario...
