perfect pocket camera

I use this camera along with the Sony A7S for family and travel. 4k video is stunning. I use a light tripod where possible and the video is great. 4k codec is easy to edit in Premiere Pro. Slow motion clips although short look good.

Camera for travelling

Decided to add the RX100 IV to my camera kit for travel photos, especially when travelling by plane. This camera provided the portability I wanted plus a fantastic quality lens and features. Would have given it five stars if the zoom had been longer. But still think it's a fantastic compact camera.

Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 Camera - Mark 4 DSCRX100M4 review

The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV proves, once again, that size doesn't matter.

Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 Camera - Mark 4 DSCRX100M4 review

A nice choice if you're looking for an advanced compact with class-leading video capabilities, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV is a little expensive if you just want a good camera for shooting stills.

Great video features to supplement its 4K capabilities distinguish the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV from the rest of the advanced-compact pack; It also retains the nice design perks, like a popup electronic viewfinder, of the earlier RX100 models.

Like its predecessor; the autofocus system could be more consistent and the battery life has gotten even worse.

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV review: Sony RX100 IV: Small camera, big video

The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV (M4) is less of an clear upgraade over its predecessor the RX100 III (M3) than a forked alternative; for a variety of reasons, I'd classify it as an advanced compact for video enthusiasts rather than a straight-up advanced compact, at least until the price drops a bit. Though it's more expensive and adds a plethora of video capabilities, it's pretty much delivers the same photo quality in the same body.

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV Review

Like its predecessor, the RX100 IV is expensive, but it's also the best compact camera you can buy.

1-inch; 20.1MP "stacked" CMOS sensor; Outstanding photos and videos; 4K and super-slow-motion modes; Improved EVF

Even pricier than before; Limited focal range; Mediocre battery life

The RX100 IV continues the line's tradition of packing as much image and video quality into as small a package as possible. The RX100 IV is also an incredibly responsive camera; fast and ready to churn out high quality images and video with tools designed to help you achieve your vision.

Some of the best image quality in any compact camera; ever; Impressively sharp 24-70mm equiv lens remains usefully bright throughout zoom range; Impressive image stabilization for stills; dramatically effective in video; Well implemented Eye AF system tracks subjects well; Superb high resolution...

Extensive feature set overwhelms the user interface; As a twin-dial camera; could be programmed better to make full use of both dials; Expensive compared to rivals; Short battery life; Lock-on AF can be unpredictable and laggy; Lens range will be limiting for some users; No microphone socket,...

Review: Sony RX100 IV

The RX100 has long been Sony's flagship Cyber-shot compact. It's the leader in its point-and-shoot squad, gathering up cutting edge features and high-performance components and stuffing them neatly into a pocket-sized camera.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV Review

The RX100 IV gains some headline-grabbing features such as high frame rate and 4K video but it's the smaller features that most impressed us. Continuous eye tracking, fast Raw burst modes with AF, and small user-interface changes have made the Mark IV the most responsive and enjoyable RX100 yet. It's the most expensive in the series but is peerless in terms of capability.

Photographers looking for the best image quality and video from a responsive camera that fits in a pocket.;

Shooters on a budget or users looking for long telephoto focal lengths.;
