RX100 M4 fails for 2nd time within 2 months of first repair

After returning the RX100 for repair, I received it back with a note indicating the service was a total rebuild of the camera. Guess what, 2 months later, it is failing again, camera freezes randomly, and every time Pano mode is selected, only way to fix is to remove battery and hope it restarts.

Large Clear LCD

Short Battery Life

Sony Cyber-Shot RX100 Camera - Mark 4 DSCRX100M4 review

Sony’s RX100 series of premium-quality compacts for enthusiasts has proven hugely popular and garnered worldwide acclaim. The RX100 IV is the fourth iteration, and like the model it replaces, has a stabilized Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* 24-70mm (equivalent) f1.8-2.8 zoom and pop-up EVF, but in place of...

Sony Cybershot RX100 IV Review

It has all of the full manual control features that intermediate and advanced photographers crave, while also remaining easy enough to use that a beginner could pick it up and begin shooting great photos immediately.

Sony Cybershot RX100 IV

The Sony RX100 Mark IV is one of the best compact cameras made till date, providing full manual control and good dynamic range, thus making it a very versatile camera. However, the lack of touchscreen input and a mis-functioning autofocus mechanism means that it has its limitations.

Small; fits in trouser pockets; Good build; Excellent image quality; Good dynamic range; Extensive manual controls; WiFi connectivity; Excellent electronic viewfinder

Restricted range of lens; Autofocus mechanism does not work well; Weak battery stamina; No touch input; WiFi configuration is not the easiest

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV

Sony has updated its RX100 model every year, and with every update the price has inched higher. The latest model, the Cyber-shot RX100 IV ($949.99), is dangerously close to the $1,000 price point, a pretty extreme figure for a pocket-friendly compact camera .

Wide-aperture zoom lens; 1-inch image sensor; Strong low light performance; 16.1fps burst shooting; Customizable controls; Large, tilting LCD; Pop-up OLED EVF; Quick autofocus; Raw shooting support; Wi-Fi with NFC; Super slow-motion video; 4K recording

Expensive; Short zoom range; Omits hot shoe; External charger not included

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV

The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV (M4) is less of an clear upgraade over its predecessor the RX100 III (M3) than a forked alternative; for a variety of reasons, I'd classify it as an advanced compact for video enthusiasts rather than a straight-up advanced compact, at least until the price drops a bit.

Great video features to supplement its 4K capabilities distinguish the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV from the rest of the advanced-compact pack; It also retains the nice design perks, like a popup electronic viewfinder, of the earlier RX100 models

Like its predecessor; the autofocus system could be more consistent and the battery life has gotten even worse

Best compact camera out there!

I was always a little hesitant to pay that much for 'Sony' camera... I love this camera! I need it something small and handy to carry always with me. I own couple good DSLR's by NIKON but I was too lazy to carry them with me all the time.
