An EVF, 16fps shooting and 40x slow motion are desirable features, but we'd have liked a touchscreen to speed up focusing, so it's four stars for Features & Build.

Best compact camera out there!

I was always a little hesitant to pay that much for 'Sony' camera... I love this camera! I need it something small and handy to carry always with me. I own couple good DSLR's by NIKON but I was too lazy to carry them with me all the time.

"A very advanced, versatile camera that is compact and mobile"

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC RX100 firs emerged ibto the compact market of cameras in 2012, and was so successful that now we can see the arrival of a new RX100 every year. The camera packs in LOADS of notable features that you will only find in the most valuable and advanced cameras; super fast...

Great video and picture quality; 4k support; compact but very advanced; 'future-proof' CMOS sensor

Very expensive; no touch screen feature; only for experienced photographers

It seems that Sony enjoys putting amazing technology in as many of its cameras as possible. It doesn't matter if it is a high-end or entry-level product, or if it is a professional interchangeable-lens camera or a compact camera. Sony likes to impress.

Sony Cybershot RX100 IV

The Sony RX100 Mark IV is one of the best compact cameras made till date, providing full manual control and good dynamic range, thus making it a very versatile camera. However, the lack of touchscreen input and a mis-functioning autofocus mechanism means that it has its limitations.

Small; fits in trouser pockets; Good build; Excellent image quality; Good dynamic range; Extensive manual controls; WiFi connectivity; Excellent electronic viewfinder

Restricted range of lens; Autofocus mechanism does not work well; Weak battery stamina; No touch input; WiFi configuration is not the easiest

Sony RX100 IV

The RX100 IV takes superbly vivid, crisp and striking images that can match up to and in some cases surpass even high end DSLRs. It shoots real 4K video and is the world's first camera to have a 1.0-type stacked CMOS image sensor.

4K video shooting up to 960 fps; Super slow and super-speed shooting; Great bright condition & low light condition shooting; High speed continuous shooting at 16 fps; 180 degrees tiltable LCD Screen

Poor auto-focus system due to lack of touchscreen; Poor battery life; Unable to shoot in raw in certain camera settings

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV review: Still the compact to beat

It's 2015 and there's an argument that the compact camera is obsolete in the face of advancing smartphones. The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV is the absolute antithesis to that; a high-end, pocketable compact with large 1-inch sensor and 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 equivalent lens.

The pocketable compact to beat; excellent image quality; built-in electronic viewfinder; fast aperture lens; customisable control ring

Hugely expensive; autofocus performance could be yet faster; still no touchscreen; limited bump over third-gen predecessor

Sony Cyber-shot RX100 IV

The RX100 Mark IV is the fourth iteration of Sony's popular fixed-lens, pocketable digicam line, which was launched in June 2012. All four cameras have featured 13.2 x 8.8 mm with effective resolutions of around 20 megapixels, pocketable bodies with retracting Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lenses and...
