Loving it!

Perfect point and shoot! Slight lag when opening it but amazing quality for point and shoot! Need to work out all the settings also but I have been watching YouTube channels.

The world's smallest ultrazoom camera. Compact but…

Normally I take photographs with a digital single lens reflex camera or DSLR. DSLRs are unbeatable for image quality, but they're big and heavy. I decided that I needed a compact camera to take with me on camping treks.

x30 zoom lens; Electronic viewfinder; Tilting screen; Inbuilt GPS receiver; Compactness

Image quality good; but could be better; Pop-up viewfinder and flash are fiddly to use; Video lacks time-lapse mode

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX90V Review

With the rise in popularity of smartphones, sales of compact cameras have steadily declined. However, there are a few compact camera ranges, such as tough cameras and travel zooms, that still thrive, as they provide something that smartphones cannot.

+ Excellent; compact design; + Extensive zoom range makes it very versatile; + Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity

No touchscreen on the LCD screen; No exposure-compensation dial; No raw recording

Good features & compact size

Previously owned the DSC-WX350 model and was very pleased with it. This adds 30x zoom, GPS and electronic viewfinder. It is a bit larger and heavier but the additional features are good.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX90V

Sony's latest superzoom, the Cyber-shot DSC-HX90V ($429.99), inherits some of the features from its premium RX camera series, including an excellent pop-up electronic viewfinder and a control ring around its lens.

Sharp, 30x zoom lens; Quick focus; Compact design; Excellent pop-up EVF; Solid control layout; Sharp, tilting rear LCD; 10fps burst capture; GPS; Wi-Fi

Images suffer at high ISO; No Raw support; Long delay after burst shooting; Lacks continuous autofocus setting for still images; Pricey

Sony HX90

The Cyber-shot DSC-HX90 is Sony's latest travel compact. It offers an amazing 30x zoom range in a body that will easily slip into your pocket. The HX90 looks and feels good too, and the inclusion of optical image stabilisation makes the zoom useful when shooting with the camera in the hand.

Compact; high-quality frame; Super-versatile lens

Limited dynamic range at higher ISO; No RAW support; Noisy; low-detail images at higher ISO

Great camera

I bought the camera to have a dabble at street photography and wanted one with a tilt. Really enjoying using the camera but takes some time to get through all the menu items, especially on a small screen. Very happy with the camera.

Quality compact travel camera with a great zoom!

Managed to loose my camera (this model) and whilst researching a replacement, decided to replace with the same model as generally good photos (despite the ‘small' sensor) coupled with an amazing zoom, and world renowned optics (Zeiss) Plus the GPS, which is missing from most competitors, and which...
