Sony A6400 Review
The new Sony Alpha A6400 is a camera with something of a split personality. On one hand it has the best AF system that Sony offers on any of their cameras, including the much more expensive full-frame models, but on the other it inherits the now dated design of the original A6000 model with its...

Sony A6400 review
The A6400 is a strong performer in terms of all-round image quality, general speed and autofocus, and its small size makes it easy to live with – but we can’t help feel that some of Sony’s choices might be enough to put off potential buyers. The lack of in-body stabilisation, the upwards-flipping screen potentially being blocked by an external mic and the very noticeable rolling shutter appearance in videos are all black marks against an otherwise impressive camera. None of them make the A6400 a bad buy, but they do mean you might be better off with another mid-range model.
Pros:
- Lightning fast, super accurate autofocus
- Small, lightweight body
- Generally strong all-round image quality
Cons:
- Some awkward ergonomic choices
- No in-body stabilisation
- Very visible rolling shutter effect

Sony Alpha A6400 review
It’s great that Sony has put the work in on the autofocus system for the A6400. It’s something that can really help photographers of all levels. Real-time Tracking aside, it’s not quite as fast or as reliable as the AF system in the Sony A9, but it’s very good, especially for a camera that is set to...
