Sonos Sub (Gen3) - White SUBG3AU1 review

Paired with a Sonos Play speaker this Sub sounds great and makes plenty of sense

Versatile placement; Simple set-up; Integrates well

A little expensive; Not the punchiest

Sonos Sub (Gen3) - White SUBG3AU1 review

“Sonos finds some missing oomph with its Sub wireless subwoofer, a potent box of boom to round out the bottom of end of your Sonos system, no wires needed.”

Powerful; potent bass for such a small sub; Excellent extension and impact; Force cancelling design eliminates unwanted vibrations; Solid; inert design; Easy to set up and use

Bass a little too thumpy at times, No standard line inputs, i.e; only compatible with Sonos gear

Sonos Sub (Gen3) - White SUBG3AU1 review

When you're looking for better sound from your flat panel television, sound bars offer a seductive solution: subtle, sexy, self-contained speakers that promise to bring out the best in your favorite movies and TV shows. But for most soundbars, the promise of "surround sound" is an empty one.

SONOS platform is ideal for music lovers; Discrete 5.1 surround from compatible sources; Elegant looks; Wireless operation; A model of simplicity

Expensive; Single optical input; No DTS decoding; Limited by TVs in getting discrete 5.1 sound

Sonos Sub (Gen3) - White SUBG3AU1 review

Late last month, Sonos , the maker of the Sonos Wireless HiFi System, announced it latest addition to its set of wireless speakers, the Sonos Sub . Unlike the Sonos Play:3 or Play:5, which were pretty complete wireless speakers, the Sono Sub is a 16 kg heavy dedicated subwoofer which is designed to...

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Despite all the minor niggles and frustrations, the Sonos One has become an integral part of my Sonos system. Alexa’s various minor talents such as setting alarms and reminders, or quickly converting ounces to grams while my hands are covered in flour are used every single day and the ability to...

Sonos One review

If you care about music and have kitted out your home with at least a smattering of smart kit, then the Sonos One should be teetering close to the top of your smart speaker wishlist right now. Most of its early inconsistencies have been ironed out by some software updates and, even if it can sometimes be a little hard of hearing compared to Amazon's Echo, it's a superb wireless speaker. Given the One is a carbon copy of the already brilliant Play:1 with a fresh paint job and the same internal driver configuration, that’s no surprise at all. Alongside the HomePod, Sonos’s Alexa-powered speaker remains a class apart from the competition – and won’t force you to commit to Apple’s ecosystem ’til death do you part. Now that’s a romance we can totally get behind.

Audio sounds great; Lovely design; Easy to use setup and app;

A little hard of hearing compared to the Echo;

Sonos One review: Alexa and Google Assistant never sounded so good

Since it debuted in late 2017, the Sonos One ($199 at Audio Advice) has been my favorite smart speaker overall. It costs more than the Amazon Echos ($34 at Amazon) and Google Homes of the world, but it's still relatively affordable and sounds much better. The first smart speaker designed with music in mind, the One still rocks the socks off any competitor in its price range.

With excellent sound and the choice of Alexa or Google Assistant, the Sonos One reaffirms its place as the best smart speaker for the money.

The Sonos One integrates both Alexa and Google Assistant voice control, with better sound quality than any smart speaker at its price; It offers smart home controls from both systems and its far-field microphone performs well; The Sonos One works seamlessly with Sonos multiroom system and can pair with a second One for stereo sound; It also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect.

The One costs twice as much as an Amazon Echo; You can't switch between the Assistant and Alexa on the fly, and need to run setup again; It doesn't work well if you have an Echo within earshot; There's no Bluetooth.

Sonos One review

The Sonos One is the best smart speaker we’ve tested. It’s more expensive than rivals but really is worth the extra for a huge difference in sound quality - not forgetting about design and build, too. Alexa and Google Assistant voice control are great - although we'd like more Sonos-specific voice controls.
