Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

The Sonos One is the best-sounding Alexa speaker yet, and its integration with Amazon’s assistant is excellent (if not yet complete).

Excellent audio quality; Comprehensive Sonos app; Lets you control lots of music sources; Can pair more speakers for whole-house audio

Can’t be used to output TV audio; Can’t initiate some streaming audio using Alexa

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Sonos was slow to deliver a voice-controlled smart speaker, but with integrated Alexa (and Google Assistant arriving soon) in what amounts to a redesigned Play:1, they've created a nearly irresistible, low-cost intro to their wireless ecosystem.

Typical Sonos build and sound quality; Alexa voice control

No Bluetooth; No hi-res audio

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Although there are a ton of smart speakers available these days ( Amazon Echo , Google Home , FABRIQ Chorus come to mind), the one drawback has been the audio quality. Most people agree that the audio quality is just average with most of these speakers.

Incredible audio quality; Amazon Alexa built-in; Sleek; modern design; Built-in microphones do a good job of picking up commands; Spotify voice control and Google Assistant coming in future

Expensive; No support for Audible audiobooks; Can’t form stereo pair with existing PLAY:1; Not a portable speaker and cannot be controlled via Bluetooth

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Wireless speaker company Sonos recently debuted voice support in two forms: pairing its speakers with an Amazon Alexa-enabled device like an Echo or Dot, and with Sonos’s first voice-enabled speaker, the Sonos One .

Great sound; super easy-to-use; stellar price point; voice control.

Apple Music can’t be started with voice control; no Siri support.

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

I’m an avid Alexa user. I use Alexa to control my lights, my Dyson, and even my air conditioner. I even miss her when I’m staying at a hotel. But until now I’ve been using the Amazon Echo Dots and Echo Taps to boss her around.

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Sonos speakers are known for their sound quality and ease of use. Will the addition of a smart assistant change that?

Sonos One Smart Speaker - Black SONOSONEB review

Sonos and Alexa, in One device. Thanks to the superior sound quality, it's the best Echo device yet – and with Google Assistant support promised soon, it's the One speaker to rule them all.

Sonos’s speaker gives you a great balance of sound and smarts, while working with a raft of connected home kit

Audio sounds great; Lovely design; Easy to use setup and app

A little hard of hearing compared to the Echo

Sonos Sub (Gen3) - White SUBG3AU1 review

The Sonos Sub, an expensive wireless subwoofer that's easy to adjust via app, isn't how you start a Sonos system, but it's a terrific addition to complete one.

Powerful, thunderous bass at highest levels; Subtle low-frequency anchoring at more modest volumes; User-controllable bass levels; Attractive design; Can sit vertically or be laid flat; Easy integration into existing Sonos systems.

Expensive; Large; Only works with Sonos speakers, cannot be physically connected to a subwoofer output.
