Great for Portraiture

I bought this lens for wedding portraiture and found I left it on my camera for much of each of the last few weddings. The only disadvantage is the weight, which is fine for me, but can introduce a bit of shake at slower shutter speeds in low light. Built like a tank, but you may need to remortgage your home for 105mm filters!

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM (Art) Lens (Sony E) - Brand New review

There is a lot to love about a fine 28mm lens that has such a fast, bright maximum aperture, for all sorts of shooting applications. The Sigma 28mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens handles well, focuses precisely and produces superb results.

Outstanding sharpness, Very low CA, Beautiful bokeh, Fast, precise AF, Fast f/1.4 aperture, Excellent handling, Dust and splash proof

Understandably high price, No Optical Image Stabilisation, Flare when shooting into the sun

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM (Art) Lens (Sony E) - Brand New review

Sigma continue to aggressively fill out their Art, Contemporary and Sports lens ranges, and the new 28mm F1.4 DG HSM is the latest optic to join the well-renowned Art family, slotting in between the existing 24mm and 35mm models.

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM (Art) Lens (Sony E) - Brand New review

The launch of the Sigma A 28 mm f/1.4 DG HSM was an interesting even, concerning a very demanding segment with fierce competition. First of all, the Sigma has serious rivals among its own Art line, like very well made A 1.4/24 and 1.4/35 models.

solid and stylish casing,, sensational image quality in frame centre,, very good image quality on the edge of the APS-C/DX sensor,, good image quality on the edge of full frame,, lack of problems with longitudinal chromatic aberration,, slight lateral chromatic aberration,, imperceptible distortion,...

very high vignetting at the maximum relative aperture on full frame,, performance against bright light leaves a bit to be desired.

Overall, I was very pleased with this lens. It is a good solid lens from the Sigma Art series and well worth the investment, making it an ideal lens for street photography and wide-angle photography.

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM (Art) Lens (Sony E) - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM (Art) Lens (Sony E) - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features
