The Seagate Firecuda 1TB external solid state drive is a well designed, well executed product but ultimately one whose appeal hinges on the promise of getting USB 3.2 Gen2x2, one for which you’re paying a rather steep premium.

Bought the 500GB version as a replacement for my Samsung T7 Touch which disconnects after several minutes of gaming - a common issue I have found on Reddit. Runs smoothly with AAA games; have not experienced any disconnection issues after 3 months of using the product. Runs cool and does not seem to overheat in the middle of a heavy workload. Highly recommended! I wish I had bought the 1TB version as the price has dropped significantly.

Small and fast

This little drive is quiet and powerful. It can handle intensive workloads almost as fast as the internal SSDs on my Macs thanks to the Thunderbolt interface with speeds of 2GB/s

The SSD was a bit smaller than I expected, easy to slip in a pocket for transport, and very fast. Using Windows 10 Pro x64, and no USB-C Socket on either our main Computer or Laptop, I had to use an adaptor to enable connection to the USB-3 PC connection. Yes, I tried a smartphone cable, Windows "saw" the SSD, but was unable to use the new SSD, because that smartphone cable was missing the 2 extra data wires needed, so...Time for an adaptor........ Love this SSD, though I bought it on a whim, doing minimal research into the product. For gaming off it, I found no problems with the device.
