Review Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 Smartphone

Who has come up with the figure of speech that it's lonely at the top, anyway? There are numerous promising high-end smartphones , and not all of them are made by Apple or Samsung. Now, the Galaxy S4 has to fend off the HTC One , the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Sony Xperia Z .

Extremely high system and 3D performance; Includes basically all existing communication technologies; Excellent Full HD display; Comprehensive set of accessories; Numerous ways to control the phone; Surprisingly compact and light; Ships with some useful pre-installed apps; Good camera; great camera...

Plastic case; Multitude of ways to control the phone can be overwhelming; Many features only work in specific apps; Pre-installed bloatware; Speakers could sound better; The Galaxy S4 marks a successful evolutionary step in the development of the series; but it arrives without any groundbreaking...

Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is finally here. Having had our hands on the Galaxy S4 at the Samsung launch event last month, we've been itching to get the new flagship smartphone in for a full review. Expectations are high.

Slim and light; Impressive 5in Full HD screen; 4G connectivity; Capacity to expand storage up to a further 64GB; Improved camera app

Poor sound quality; Picture is on the warm side; Rivals have greater detail and contrast levels; Intermittent lag when multitasking; Gesture and eye-tracking features won't suit everyone

Review: Samsung GALAXY S4

Cinema Shot : This app captures multiple frames and makes the photograph livelier by turning it into an animated image. Once the photo is taken, the app highlights the spots that can be animated. If you're not happy with these suggestions, you can manually select the area via the edit mode.

Excellent screen; Superb camera quality; Loads of camera features; Great sound quality; Supports multiple video formats out of the box; Good battery life

Uninspiring design; Flimsy back cover; Noticeable lag in certain basic tasks; Cluttered UI; Uncomfortable for single-handed use; Expensive

Samsung Galaxy S4

Purchased this phone not even a month ago (day it came out) and have had problems ever since. Lags continuously, fast battery life, deletes messages you're writing right before your eyes, constantly runs apps which you've given no permission to run or you've forced close (which you ALWAYS have to do...

camera; bright colourful screen

slow processor, lags constantly, short battery life, pointless software, always running apps when you force close, bad reception; especially in regards to internet

The past couple of months have seen a dizzying array of "hero" smartphones hit the Australian marketplace. They're all around the same kinds of price points outright or on contract, so which one should you pick? This week: Samsung's feature-packed Galaxy S4.

Samsung Galaxy S4 review

Summary: With the Galaxy S4, Samsung has squeezed a superb 5-inch screen and a host of high-end features into a slightly slimmer, thinner and lighter chassis than its S III predecessor. It's an excellent handset, but some will find the S4 overladen with unnecessary features and too expensive.

Fabulous 5-inch screen; Packed with high-end features; LTE and 802.11ac Wi-Fi support; HDMI-out via Micro-USB with MHL support; Surprisingly good battery life

Expensive; Many of the proximity- and gesture-based features feel gimmicky; Limited internal storage (16GB) on review unit

Samsung has carved out a huge market for its Galaxy range of Android phones. One of the most popular phones in the series was the Galaxy S3, clocking over 40 million units in sales as of January this year.

Excellent display; Brilliant camera; Android 4.2.2; Removable Battery and microSD card slot

Deceptively light; Plastic materials; Overwhelming amount of software features could be difficult to use for some users; Only 8.9 GB of user accessible memory
