Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Review: A Powerful Smartphone That’s a Little Boring

The design tweaks are nice, but that's not a reason to upgrade. Neither is a bunch of new AI tricks. Samsung's ultimate phone could do so much more.
Pros:
  • Big, anti-reflective display, Lighter chassis, Higher-resolution ultra-wide angle lens
Cons:
  • Not much of a camera upgrade, Everything else is about AI, Where's the magnets???

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review: Boring but brilliant

I didn’t want to love the S25 Ultra. It’s one of the smallest generational updates we’ve ever seen, and there’s no excuse for that with so much innovation happening elsewhere. But it’s a wonderful phone that’s a pleasure to use and there’s no area where the S25 Ultra falls short.
Pros:
  • Slick software, The most advanced AI around, Gorgeous anti-reflective screen, Image processing has improved
Cons:
  • Barely any hardware upgrades, S Pen has no Bluetooth, Expensive

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is its best Android smartphone yet. In almost every area, it offers top-drawer specs and performance.
Pros:
  • Slightly less reflective flat Gorilla Armor 2 and a bright display., Battery life is good, but heavy users will need to recharge daily., The camera is good but not class-leading. Needs more work., Powerful SoC but throttles terribly.
Cons:
  • Colour inaccurate image preview 8-bit display., USB-C is not fully implemented., Charging speed is not class-leading, and fast charging requires a Samsung-specific charger., Not enough hardware changes to jsutify updating your old Ultra., Samsung’s ecosystem is heading toward Apple’s walled garden.
