The Galaxy S23 is another well-made, attractive and solidly performing flagship smartphone from Samsung. However, unless you’re loyal to Sammy and want the latest compact handset, it’s largely unchanged from the S22 and struggles to shine in any particular area – especially when rivals are cheaper.
Pros:
- Premium compact build, Slick performance, Improved battery life, Solid OS support
Cons:
- Limited upgrades, Slow wired charging, Pixel 7 is far cheaper

Not a lot has changed from the S22 to the S23, but with the most recent model, Samsung has - yet again - delivered what is the best all-round compact flagship phone.
Pros:
- Slim and portable design, Bright and vivid display, Super skinny, uniform bezels, Decent battery performance for its size
Cons:
- One UI software is full of bloat, Camera results are a bit hyperreal, Not much change from S22

Despite these issues, there are reasons to like the S23. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t expect I’d like the S23 all that much going in. On paper, it looked like Samsung had applied the most modest of updates, with the bulk of it being the chip, and really not much else.
Pros:
- Great size, Solid design, Excellent performance, Surprisingly decent battery life, One of the last small phones (maybe), Water resistance
Cons:
- Last year's camera (and not the amazing 200 megapixel of the Ultra, either, or even the 108 megapixel of the older Ultra), Minimal reason to upgrade
