Samsung has just launched the latest Galaxy S22 series. But is it any good? What are the cameras like? And should you buy it?

Good news is that the Galaxy S22 Plus price is the same as last year at $1,000 for the base 8G/128GB model, while $50 on top of that gets you an 8G/256GB model and that seems like the optimal configuration.

Everything about the Galaxy S22+ feels premium but it lacks a certain wow factor, particularly next to Samsung’s other £949 folding flip phone . The screen is great, the camera is good, performance is snappy and the battery life is reasonable.

Pros: 120Hz screen, good camera, One UI 4.1/Android 12, good performance, decent battery life, fast fingerprint scanner, five years of software support, contains recycled materials, premium feel.

Cons: big, expensive, no headphone socket, battery life and camera bettered by others, no flashy features.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is in an early shoe-in as the best everyman flagship phone for 2022 with plenty of power for even the most discerning users. Samsung’s latest flagship combines a large and fantastic 120Hz AMOLED display, excellent performance and a high performing camera array.

Battery life could be better

The S22+ offers a slim and well-built design, with a stunning display, feature-packed software and improved cameras, but there are flaws in the battery and camera software that should have been addressed before this phone made it to market.
