Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review

It's fair to say that you have to dig a little deeper than surface level to really appreciate the Samsung Galaxy Note 9’s charms. The Bluetooth S-Pen, 1TB of storage and much-improved speakers aren’t features you’ll necessarily appreciate properly off a spec list in the local phone shop, but start using them, and their benefits become clear. Ultimately though, this is a enriched take on the Note 8 - an S9+ on steroids if you will - rather than something that feels brand new. But when those phones were pretty great in the first place, it's hard to complain too much. We say too much, because given the Note 9’s battery capacity, its real-world stamina could, and should, be a little better. And that dulls its shine, just a bit.
Pros:
  • Great screen
  • Top-notch performance
  • Better than ever S-Pen
  • Superb cameras
Cons:
  • Battery life is only ok for its size

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: A sensational big-screen experience

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a catalogue of successes. With a premium build, an absolutely excellent screen, a mature software experience, great cameras, all the power you could possibly need, excellent battery life and fabulous AKG-tuned speakers, there's little it gets wrong.
Pros:
  • Excellent display
  • Great camera performance in low-light
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Bluetooth-enabled S Pen
  • Fantastic battery life
Cons:
  • So many features you'll likely never find
  • Expensive
  • Bixby button can no longer be redirected
  • S9+ may suit more casual users

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: The best never felt so bland

The Galaxy Note 9 is Samsung's passionate love letter to Note fans. It has insane specs, a gigantic, gorgeous screen, a Bluetooth-powered S Pen, and a headphone jack-all critical features for the kind of Android user that Samsung is targeting with a Note update.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 review: The best never felt so bland

If you want pure power and performance, the Galaxy Note 9 is the best Android phone you can buy, but it's expensive and not very exciting.

  • Giant battery means it'll last through most days
Cons:
  • It's expensive
  • It still runs Android Oreo and probably will for a while
  • Bixby isn't as good as Google Assistant and you can't turn off the button...

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone Review

Samsung once again delivers the business smartphone of the year, nothing less is to be expected. Even the owners of the Note 8 have a lot to gain by switching to the Note 9. However, this does not have a lot to do with the S Pen: The new remote control functionality is neat, but not revolutionary.
