Samsung 970 PRO M.2 512GB NVMe SSD review

We feel the EVO and PRO are both at a grand level and very close to each other in performance, the 970 Pro model definitely has a bit more bite in some areas though. Realistically, the 970 series is more of an evolution rather than a revolution, it has been all about refining the technology.

Fast

At first I thought it was DOA - I plugged it into 2 different motherboard slots and even an M.2 PCI card. Nothing new showed up in device manager, not even an unknown device without drivers. My 960 pros were still listed (samsung driver 2.3).

Samsung 970 PRO 1TB SSD Review

Launched at the same time as the 970 EVO, the 970 PRO is Samsung's 3rd generation flagship NVMe consumer drive, taking over the mantle from the legend that is the 960 PRO. Coming in at £599.99 it is certainly not cheap, but can the performance justify that hefty price tag

Samsung 970 Pro

For those after the very best that NVMe SSDs have to offer, Samsung's Pro line has often been the go-to choice for workstation and power peeps alike. They're usually faster than their more consumer and wallet-friendly Evo SSD siblings, and often come with higher endurance ratings for all that...

Samsung 970 Pro 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD Review

If you have a friend who knows a thing or two about computers, then you might have heard the notion that "upgrading to an SSD will change your life." A little dramatic, but we stand by what we preach.

Samsung 970 Pro review

The Samsung Pro line has remained as the unchallenged king of solid-state drives for the last few years. But recent contenders, like the WD Black NVMe SSD , have proven that Samsung can't sit on its laurels anymore. So, the company has delivered its fastest consumer drive ever: the Samsung 970 Pro.

The fastest SSD money can buy; Reliable for years; Substantially higher write speeds

Not much faster than rivals; Slightly pricier than competitors; Read speeds remain the same

Samsung 970 PRO SSD Review

Back in 2015, Samsung released the 950 PRO, their first V-NAND NVMe SSD. The following year saw the 960 PRO, furthering on performance to the point of becoming the market leader. Samsung saw it upon themselves to retain that crown. Welcome to the Samsung 970 PRO NVMe SSD.

+ Amazingly fast; + Stylish design; + M.2 Compact form factor; + Phoenix controller; + 2-bit 64-layer MLC V-NAND; + Improvement over the 960 PRO; + 5-year warranty

Samsung 970 Pro 1TB Review

The Samsung 970 Pro 1TB is the largest capacity model of the company's newest high-performing consumer M.2 NVMe SSD line. We previously reviewed the 512GB version, and though it had a strong showing, we were expecting it to be a bit faster.

There's no doubt, though, that the 970 Pro is a high-performance drive that suffers from diminishing returns. If you have a high-end PC for creative applications or workstation tools, then it's worth paying the extra cash to get the fastest SSD around. For the vast majority of people, though, the
