Samsung 860 Pro

Samsung's Pro range of SSDs have always had a hard time in the face of their cheaper Evo counterparts. On the face of it, they're meant to be faster and longer-lasting – the very best gaming SSD , so to speak – but when the Samsung 850 Evo and 960 Evo proved to be pretty much just as quick as their...

Excellent

After reading Lionel's recent review here, I spoke with Samsung customer service and was assured their data migration software would work with the 860 pro. So I took a chance and purchased this item.

Hard drive on steroids

I bought the Samsung 860 pro in the hope of injecting life into my 6 year old toshiba qosmio laptop and I'm so glad that I did. At first I wasn't sure if I should fork out over £300 on a ssd when you can easily get a 2tb hybrid drive for a quarter of what your paying for the Samsung 860 pro.

Samsung 860 Pro 4TB SSD Review

Solid State Drives endured a difficult birth that sparked massive debate across the internet. Anyone who ever used one new instantly that this was a proper game-changing piece of hardware, and even now after all this time we still say that the biggest upgrade you can do is to go from a mechanical...

Samsung 860 Pro

Between the small speed increases and big internal upgrades, the Samsung 860 Pro is a worthy successor to the world's best SATA SSD. But it's ultimately an iteration most users can skip.

Slightly faster speeds; New 4TB capacity model; Improved security and reliability

SATA III limits maximum write and read speeds

Samsung SSD860 PRO 4TB SSD Review

Launched at the same time as the EVO model, the Samsung SSD860 PRO, the successor the mighty 850 PRO, uses Samsung's 64-layer MLC V-NAND and has an endurance rating that eclipses the previous generation 850 PRO's life expectancy.

Performance; Endurance rating; 5 year warranty

Pricey

Samsung 860 Pro SATA SSD review: Great performance, capacity and longevity

The Samsung 860 Pro is fast, and reasonably priced considering its best-in-class endurance rating (read about the NVMe Intel 900P to learn about some truly jaw-dropping endurance). You may find something a bit cheaper in a 2.5-inch SATA SSD-but you won't anything better. Tags samsung

Samsung 860 Pro SSD

For several years Samsung has priced the Pro series out of reach for mainstream users and enthusiasts alike. The NAND shortage prevented MLC SSDs from receiving the same price cuts as the TLC models, so the pricing gap only grew as the shortage progressed.

Highest SATA performance for sustained workloads; Highest endurance; Consistent performance; Excellent software package

Extremely high cost

Samsung 860 PRO 2TB SSD review

So who would buy an 860 EVO over the PRO or vice versa Well, that depends on your workload, endurance needs and wallet size I guess. Performance wise really you are not going to notice a difference between the two, However, if you want really excellent endurance, hey the TBW values are through the...

Samsung 860 EVO and PRO SATA SSD Review - 512GB, 1TB, and 4TB Tested

* 860 EVO is also available in M.2 SATA 250GB-2TB and mSATA 250GB-1TB for the same prices stated above. Endurance ratings are significantly higher than all current competing SATA products, coming in ~3x the MX500 rating (MX500 being an SSD that already showed excellent endurance).
