The perfect solution to slow computer problems

I purchased this SSD to replace the aging HDD in my 2012 MacBook Pro. Every application I opened before would take minutes and I received the "spinning beachball" way too often. After reading around online, it seemed as if the issue was the HDD and was recommended this SSD to replace it, and I am so...

Good drive

A tiny bit slower than the smaller 256GB Samsung Pro drive I replaced, however, not so slow it will be noticed other than in a benchmark. It is also a little slower than my Samsung 1TB EVO, however, with large files the EVO slows down a great deal after the buffer is full; the Pro does not suffer...

Samsung 860 Pro 512GB review: Power killed by price

With a reduced warranty and only a tiny speed boost, the 860 Pro is massively overpriced

Improved power consumption; Huge endurance improvements; Very slightly faster than the 860 Evo

Warranty has been halved to five years; Seriously expensive

Extra performance

I mainly purchased the Samsung 860 PRO as I understand it is more resilient to heavy use - as far as extra speed goes I cannot see any difference between my old SSD, that is until I activate the Rapid mode in the software (Samsung Magician) when a slight increase in performance is noticeable - at...

Samsung SSD 860 Pro

But the SSD 860 Pro is expensive, and its excellent performance isn't meaningfully better than other flagship-grade SATA drives that cost less. These include the Crucial MX500 (currently $200 for 1TB) or the WD Blue ($249 for 1TB).

Five-year warranty; Excellent reliability; Available in five capacities, up to 4TB

High cost per gigabyte

Samsung makes the best SSDs on the market!

What's not to like when it comes to Samsung SSD's I have quite a few, including the 860 EVO, older 840's and 850's EVOs and PROs that seem to last forever, as well as the newer NVMe 960 and 970 drives which are easily the fastest drives on the market.

Durable; reliable; dependable

Very fast but short lived.

Installed this into an old PC and instantly transformed the performance. All applications opened within a few seconds and the machine felt like a brand new one. I was very happy with it. Sadly after about 3 months, the computer would not boot and reported that it was unable to repair itself.

Samsung 860 PRO and EVO SSD (fast review)

Samsung is a global leader in V-NAND memory technology and has released the updated 860 PRO and EVO SSD (solid state disks). They are fast. Ray Shaw [email protected] has a passion for IT ever since building his first computer in 1980.

The fastest SATA 6GB/s interface SSDs yet

A little pricey
