Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Review

Razer is known for gaming, including some very capable gaming headsets. The wired Razer Kraken Tournament Edition packs THX simulated surround sound, a 5.1-channel USB audio adapter, and dual 50mm drivers into a very comfortable design for just $99.99. It isn't the fanciest headset out there, but it hits a sweet spot that delivers a solid feel, strong performance, and lots of features for a reasonable price. Design The Kraken Tournament Edition doesn't steer away from Razer's signature chunky, circular look for gaming headsets. It's a solidly built over-ear pair of headphones, available in all black or green with black accents. The earcups have large, round plastic shells ringed with solid metal to which they attach to the metal headband. The headband is fairly flexible and adjustable with firm click-stops, and the metal rings allow limited vertical pivoting for each earcup to enable a comfortable fit. The earpads are generously large to avoid putting any pressure on the ears, and...

Razer's Kraken Tournament Edition gaming headset delivers strong bass performance and capable simulated surround sound for $100.

Solid, comfortable build; Sturdy fabric-wrapped cables; THX simulated surround sound

Somewhat weak highs

Razer Kraken Tournament Edition review: A messy but interesting refresh for Razer’s no-frills headset line

The last Razer headset we reviewed, the Nari Ultimate, packed one hell of a gimmick: custom-built drivers that respond to bass presence by literally vibrating against your head. Silly? Absolutely. Still, I enjoyed my time with it.

Razer’s Kraken Tournament Edition combines a standard 3.5mm headset with a USB control box, giving it THX capabilities and nifty on-the-fly bass EQ. And hey, the earcups are cold now.

Earcups feature cooling gel, still a neat gimmick; Lightweight, durable, and comfortable; Finally Razer builds a control box worth using;

Razer’s sound quality is still average at best; Some of the in-line controls are redundant; Cable is way too long for everyday use;

Razer Kraken Ultimate review: Tournament Edition features with consumer polish

A volume wheel! At last!; "Underglow" lighting looks pretty neat; THX Spatial Audio is a decent software-driven surround;

Ridiculously large; Sound is "okay" for the price; Mediocre microphone;

Sufficient to play ps4 or xbox games but the sound quality is average. Lots of treble and mids but really lacking the deep boomy bass for explosions and gunfire. The mic that retracts into the headphones is a great feature though and is really unobtrusive.

Poor sound quality

the quality of the headset looks good and the interface but the sound quality was so poor. I i spent about 5 hours with these and couldnt get on with them and went back to my old steelseries

Not all functions work

So it doesn't tell on the website that some features which are the important ones don't function on PlayStation like THX spatial audio. Bass and speakers are great but feel cheated.

Review - The Razer Kraken: Tournament Edition is way more than meets the eye

The Razer Kraken: Tournament Edition certainly is a solid set of headphones. High quality construction, crystal-clear audio, a plethora of customisation options, comfort… everything you'd usually expect from a Razer accessory.

Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Review – Full Audio Control

Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Review – While the Razer Nari that I reviewed earlier has a THX Spatial Audio, Razer Kraken Tournament Edition was actually the first gaming headset featuring that tech.

Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Review

The Razer Kraken Tournament Edition has been introduced as the successor to the Kraken Pro V2s, and as is the norm for their Kraken line up the visual design of the headset has not changed which means we're expecting the Kraken Tournament Edition to be comfortable as it still features soft ear-cups...
