Razer tries some new ideas to court FPS players, but their effectiveness depends on the user.

Razer Basilisk FPS Gaming Mouse Review

Razer Basilisk is not really an upgrade from a DeathAdder Elite (if you already own it), that is because it is equipped with the same Razer 5G Optical Sensor that offers the highest accuracy on a Razer Gaming Mouse at this point.

Is this the one I often wonder how comfortable a mouse can get, and the Razer Basilisk certainly makes itself known in this department. Sporting a black chassis, the gaming mouse looks sleek but asymmetrical. The left side in particular has a thumb rest protruding quite obnoxiously.

DPI: Up to 16000; Weight: 110g; Tracking rate: 450IPS; Software: Razer Synapse 3; Acceleration: 50G

Razer Basilisk Review: The FPS Mouse Reinvented

The Razer Basilisk boasts a comfortable feel, intuitive software and reasonable price, in addition to an innovative clutch that's a bit of an eyesore.

Comfortable design; Innovative clutch; Useful HyperShift feature; Handy thumb rest

Software still in beta; Not as attractive as other Razer mice

Razer Basilisk review: A comfortable FPS gaming mouse with a (potentially) annoying design flaw

We've had the opportunity to review more than a few mice and gaming mice this past year here at Techaeris, with more on the way. Our latest - the Razer Basilisk review - takes a look at an FPS gaming mouse from one of the industry leaders when it comes to PC gaming gear.

Comfortable design and grips; Customizable buttons; DPI clutch; Great; smooth performance; Adjustable scroll wheel resistance; Onboard profile storage; Long; braided cord; Easy to use software; Reasonably priced

Mouse button design wraps over edge; can be annoying; No way to adjust mouse weight

We'd like to say we are professional gamers, but we aren't. But that won't stop us from recommending gaming peripherals that are designed for gamers whether professional or casual. Are these expensive mice and keyboards worth the money to spend People ask that very often, but it's a yes and no.

Overall performance; Scroll resistance control

I had previously been using the Logitech G500 and after years it finally died on me. I loved that mouse and all in all, this mouse is a pretty good replacement. It is missing the scroll lock/unlock feature of the Logitech G500, and this is all I miss about it.

Razer Basilisk Essential

Razer's Basilisk Essential scales down one of our favorite gaming mice while keeping most of its best features intact.

Comfortable shape for right-handed users; Removable "sniper mode" resolution-toggling paddle; Solid configuration software

Only lighting feature is hidden by hand during play; No left-handed variant; $20 price drop means lower-endurance switches

Razer Basilisk Essential Gaming Mouse Review

Razer is never one to shy away from reinventing and refreshing its products. Every year or two, we find ourselves receiving a new press release on a familiar item that's been updated or made new again with a fresh feature or new design.
