OnePlus Watch review

The OnePlus Watch is a great first smartwatch from OnePlus, blowing pricier rivals away in a couple of key areas, with sleek looks and week-long battery life. However, with a bespoke operating system it can’t load more than the preinstalled selection of basic apps, and its companion smartphone app is only available on Android at launch. Despite a few software glitches betraying its first-gen status, the OnePlus Watch is good value for the price, which is notably lower than Samsung and Apple competitors.

Week-long battery life; Sleek design; Bright display and nice interface;

No facility to add apps; Software glitches; Only basic fitness tracking

OnePlus Watch review

We might have a better opinion of the OnePlus Watch if we waited until six months after it launched. We gave OnePlus a few weeks and a couple of updates to fix a few glaring problems, because we like to review new tech at Stuff, not gadgets half-way to the retirement village. OnePlus added a few features, no doubt squashed some bugs. But the main one remains. The OnePlus watch cannot reliably track outdoors exercise thanks to dodgy GPS execution and fumbled handling of the data it does record, compounding the problem. The Huawei Watch GT2, or its cheaper sibling the Huawei GT2e, are better buys.

Faulty GPS; Poor handling of outdoors exercise metrics;

OnePlus Watch review

On the surface, the OnePlus Watch is a premium smartwatch in design and hardware at an affordable price. However, it’s severely let down by its frankly unfinished software.

Premium design & build; Long battery life; Solid hardware;

Unfinished software; Unreliable tracking; No smaller size;

OnePlus Watch review: NonPlussed

The frustrating thing about this watch is that it just feels unfinished. Sure, it looks pretty enough and battery life is great, but it's incredibly unreliable as a fitness tracker - so, at launch, not fit for purpose.

Stainless steel case; Waterproof to 50m; Flexible and easy-to-use strap; Long battery life;

Too big for some wrists; Unreliable GPS and step counting; Basic smartwatch features; No always-on display; No contactless payment; Only supports Android;

Take a Peek at the OnePlus Watch Before Next Week's Launch

OnePlus has new phones on tap for next week's product launch, but YouTube channel Unbox Therapy has details about another device on the agenda—a smartwatch. Unbox Therapy tweeted the first full image of the device. It looks pretty similar to other smartwatches on the market, with a round watch face, at least two side buttons, and a rubber or silicone band. Tweet OnePlus responded to the image by inviting everyone to attend its March 23 event, where the smartwatch will launch alongside the OnePlus 9 flagship phones. (Stay tuned for our coverage.) On Wednesday, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau also teased details about the upcoming watch, which he says has been the most requested device from the company’s customers. “Our priority for devices that are part of the OnePlus ecosystem is to offer fashionable designs, provide seamless connectivity and deliver a best-in-class user experience. And the new OnePlus Watch is no exception,” he wrote in a forum post.  He stressed the product will arrive w...

OnePlus Watch : The beauty is only skin deep

The OnePlus Watch is almost impossibly beautiful for the money but it doesn’t do enough

Gorgeous design; Long battery life; Very reasonable price;

Sports features are unadventurous; Rudimentary notification handling; No third-party apps;
