While Samsung and Google were busy shipping AI features as fast as possible, OnePlus doubled down on the essentials.
Pros:
- Excellent all-day-and-then-some battery life, Big, vibrant display, Top-tier processor and tons of storage, even at the base configuration, Good camera with lovely color processing
Cons:
- Lacks full IP68 rating, Four years of OS upgrades now lags behind category best

However, the hefty price hike is a tad disappointing, especially with lacklustre durability compared to similarly priced alternatives, and there’s no AI tech here...

Cons:
- No AI features, Performance is slower than similarly specced phones, IP65 resistance falls short for the price

OnePlus’ new $800 Android phone has all the specs you’d want, and looks great to boot.
Pros:
- Snappy performance. Great battery life. Wireless charging is back. Fast wired charging. Snazzy design. Solid cameras. Works on all major US carriers. Will receive four Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Cons:
- Only IP65 water-resistant. Curved display is so 2020.

The OnePlus 12 has a lot to live up to. Fortunately, it - almost - fulfills the expectations.
Pros:
- Brilliantly good and very bright screen, improved camera, bigger battery, wireless charging and really good sound. And 'Aqua Touch' is a really welcome new feature.
Cons:
- Must make do with IP65 certification. Despite optimised cooling, the phone still heats up quickly. Benchmark measurement of the processor shows results on par with the predecessor.
