A while ago we reviewed the Olympus 15mm f/8 Lens Cap but, honestly, we weren't all that impressed. After all, there are several available pancake lenses around this focal length so there is a rather limited appeal in such an offering in our opinion.

A formal test of the Olympus 9mm f/8 Fisheye Lens Cap is a bit unfair, of course. After all Olympus doesn't even list it in the range of lenses on their website - it's merely mentioned as a camera accessory thus also the "Lens Cap" name.

There are probably more reasons for owners of Olympus CSCs to invest in this lens than the previous 15mm Body Cap lens provided. For starters, the local price is very much closer to the US online price (and probably close enough to make it cheaper to buy locally than importing it as discounting...

This is our first ultra wide lens, so I have nothing to compare with. As the price was reasonable we thought it was worth buying, To our surprise it really is an amazing bargain.

The Olympus Fisheye Body Cap Lens 9mm doesn't have the greatest optics, but it's a fine choice for photographers who want a fish-eye look that won't break the bank.

When we started testing the Olympus 9mm f/8 Fisheye Body Cap lens, we fully expected it to perform at the level of “toy lenses;” but this ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight lens has surprised us with more than decent images that only suffer from soft corners and comparatively high levels of chromatic...

Olympus' tactic of playing down the optical performance of this lens need not be necessary. Even though this lens only costs £90 and is little more than a body cap with some glass in it, it is still capable of delivering decent quality images.
