Nintendo Switch Lite

The Switch Lite is the best Nintendo handheld yet from a company with the greatest and most influential history of portable game systems, and that earns it our Editors' Choice. It just isn't a home game console, and you should keep that in mind when making your choice between the Switch Lite and the...

Smaller and lighter than the Switch in handheld mode, with the same gaming experience; Solid build; Direction pad

No TV output or vibration; Nintendo's cloud saves are still limited

Nintendo Switch Lite review: a triumphant return to dedicated handhelds

Ever since it entered the world of video games, a few things about Nintendo have remained consistent. Perhaps the most enduring is that the company knows how to make a great portable gaming experience.

Streamlined; sturdier design; Improved battery life; Excellent directional pad

Can't connect to a TV; Some games aren't compatible out of the box; No kickstand

Nintendo Switch Lite Review: Excellent handheld, no dock required

I've always been a huge fan of the Nintendo Switch The handheld finally fulfilled my childhood dream of being able to take a video game console on the go and then dock it at home to play that same experience on a television.

Build quality is improved; $260 is a great price; Library of games is impressive

Can't be docked and played on a television; Battery life still isn't great; Screen is 720p

Nintendo Switch Lite - Turquoise

I've always wanted to play Switch games, but thought the original Nintendo Switch was too much for me. It was too expensive, too heavy, and too clunky. When I saw one in Target with different colors, I wanted one! In my opinion, it's much lighter than the original one as well.

Nintendo Switch Lite review

The Nintendo Switch Lite is a great, compact device for those who aren't a fan of (or simply never use) the original Switch's docked mode. The design is more comfortable for portable gaming than the Switch, while boasting the same performance.

Lighter and smaller; More portable; Nice selection of colors; Comfortable design

Limited to handheld games; Still not as comfortable as 3DS

Nintendo Switch Lite review: handheld gaming that's difficult to resist

Who would have believed it The Switch that cannot actually switch is an absolute triumph - a pared back rendition of the hardware that demonstrates quite spectacularly that beyond the hybrid console functionality that defined the system, this was always a handheld at its core - and a brilliant one...

Nintendo Switch Lite Review

The Switch Lite is kind of cute. Sat next to its bigger brother, it's more compact, and its unibody design has taken the playfulness of the Joy-Con colouring to heart with some attractive full-body colours. It's like a mini-Switch wearing a yellow, turquoise or grey onesie. It's cute!

Nice; more compact form; Fun console colours; Improved battery life over original Switch; A D-pad; Nice; more compact form; Fun console colours; Improved battery life over original Switch; A D-pad

Mushy D-pad won't satisfy fighting fans; No TV output; Loses some of that modular charm

Nintendo Switch Lite review: A better way to play on the go

All in all, I ended up loving the Switch Lite more than I expected. I was surprised by how light and portable it is, and I really like the soft feel of the buttons. Playing on it is much more comfortable than the regular Switch in handheld mode, which is to be expected.

Nintendo Switch Lite review: back to the future

Welcome to T3's official Nintendo Switch Lite review. Recently I have been putting the lighter and smaller incarnation of the Nintendo Switch through its paces and what follows is my considered take on the new handheld.

Slim and stylish design; Sharper; if smaller screen; Good battery life; Comes with a proper D-pad; Cheaper than full-fat Switch

Cannot connect and play on a TV; Joy-Cons are fixed in place; No built-in rumble or kickstand; Only 32GB of internal storage
