My 10 yr old 10/42 Weavers (made by Opticron) had some fungus growing in one of the eye pieces so I upgraded to these Nikons because I wanted slightly more pulling power. Overall they are a little sharper and a tad brighter and obviously bring things a shade closer.
My wife and I just returned from a 12 day trip on the Amazon River. These binoculars were great to have along. Being waterproof was very important on this trip and we were not disappointed. We were able to find/see birds, mammals, and reptiles easily with these binoculars.
Bought this item to replace a pair of Nikon 10x42mm ProStaff binoculars that I gave to my son to use hunting. I really liked the 10x42 set so I decided to step up the magnification to 12x. Made a real difference when looking side by side with the 10x set.
