Superb entry level camera with telephoto kit lens

Having gone from SLR (Minolta) to Bridge (Nikon) I felt it was time to move to something more challenging. The D5300 has much to offer, and is an accomplished camera in the hands of a novice (staying within the Auto options) as it is in more skilled hands using more of the superb scene and...

Nikon D5300 review: A camera with a fantastic sensor

it has been a few years since we first reviewed the Nikon D5300, where it's still a perfectly capable device, even if Nikon's rivals have been battling it out. Since launch, Nikon released the D5500 (not long after the D5300's launch mind you) with its superb sensor yet disappointing kit lens and...

Nikon D5300. Couldn't be easier

Really easy to use. Make sure you have a descent size memory card to prevent filling up too quick. 32GB at least

Easy to set up and start snapping pictures

None so far

Nikon D5300 review

The vari-angle screen and Effect modes encourage the user to shoot in live view mode (and compose the image on screen), but the live view AF system's performance lags behind that of many compact system cameras, and the screen isn't touch-sensitive.

Great performing sensor; No anti-aliasing filter; High-res vari-angle screen; Wi-Fi built-in; EXPEED 4 processor

Mainly on-screen control; No touchscreen; Special Effects are JPEG only

Quick delivery and a lot of great features.

This is nice compact camera with a lot of features that are easy to use. Anyone can take great pictures and look like pro, just use auto mode. I like swivel screen that let you take pictures from different angles. The only drawback is that Nikon should include lens hood with the kit.

Spare D5300 for Landscape and Astrophotography

I spent over 4 months reading reviews and cross-referencing the D5xxx and D7xxx series looking at settings, functions, weight, sensors.. After all of that, I decided on purchasing the D5300. I have been using my D5300 for the past 8 months and I love it!

No Complaints

The camera does excellent in low light situations which is the reason I chose it over other models. I was not a fan of the flip-out screen conceptually but I have found that I use it fairly often.

Nikon D5300

The Nikon D5000 series is ideal for beginners, students and a general family camera that I have sold to friends. I have tested this camera with the 18-105 Nikon lens and was impressed with the images.
