Motorola Moto G6 Play review

Place the G6 Play casually in front of a friend and tell them you’ve just spent £400 on a new phone and they’ll be none the wiser. With its slim bezels and big screen it certainly looks the part, and in use it’s fast enough that only the most demanding of smartphone addicts will find it lacking. Its vast battery is a real bonus, too, and while it’s let down slightly by its camera, it’s not like it’s terrible on this front. At £169, it’s an absolute steal. There are plenty of great phones available for around the £200 mark these days, but few are as easy to recommend as this one.

Excellent battery life; Large, 18:9 screen; Stylish build for the price;

Camera is average; No waterproofing;

Moto G6 Play Review

A great, everyday phone, the Moto G6 Play is still one of the cheapest handsets that you can buy. The main issue is that the competition has got a lot tougher and you can spend just a little more to get a considerably more powerful handset from the competition. If you're on the tightest of budgets, then this is a handset that you'll be happy with but if you can just spend a little more cash, you'll be happier in the long run.

Great price; Smart looks; Excellent value; Strong battery life;

Camera could be faster;

Moto G6 Play Review

The Moto G6 Play is a great little surprise of a phone. It holds its own next to the other two G6 phones and has better battery life (and a cooler fingerprint sensor). The 18:9 display and premium (but plastic) design means it feels just as well-made as phones double the price but doesn’t compromise on performance to do so. With a headphone jack as a plus, a minus is micro-USB but we’ll forgive that on its strengths and can recommend the G6 Play as one of the best budget phones of 2018.
