Monster Hunter Rise review

Far from scaling down, Monster Hunter Rise builds on the accessible streamlining from Monster Hunter World for a wilder action-packed hunting fest with even cooler abilities, inspired new features and modes, all while boasting one of the best looking games on Switch that makes the hardware truly sing. Newcomers will feel at ease, while veterans will find plenty of ways to experiment with the new mechanics and tackle its toughest monsters (with more to come in post-launch updates), with the two ideally coming together to help one another in local or online multiplayer. Whichever you might be, sharpen your weapon of choice, as you won’t want to miss out on one of the best games of 2021.

The best looking game on Switch; Brilliant new mechanics make for speedier and more accessible hunts; Rampage mode is a total beast; Those wonderful doggoes;

A bit too easy for seasoned players (to begin with);

Poacher Simulator 2021

Super fun addition to the Monster Hunter franchise, I definitely recommend picking it up with a group of friends. Nothing more chill than absolutely beating the crap out of a monster with your mates, all equipped with ridiculous weapons and armor made out of other monsters you previously beat the crap out of. There isn't a whole lot of content in the game just yet, but it seems like Capcom has a plan to implement more monsters and features over time, much like they did with Monster Hunter World. So I'm excited to see what they throw at us. Anyway, if you like any of the previous installments then you can't go wrong with Rise. 10/10 hunting horn reworks.

A must have for the switch!

I currently have 17 hours of playtime on this game and there is still a lot of content to be explored. If you're looking for boss-rush action games I recommend picking this up now!

Monster Hunter Rise review

An essential Switch experience and an impressive – if diluted – Monster Hunter experience that adds new mechanics to the already burgeoning toolset whilst creating fresh, fun experiences for newcomers and series veterans alike.

More accessible than previous games; Gorgeous graphics, consistent framerate; Wirebugs/Palamutes are excellent;

Some toned-down mechanics; Lack of a distinct end-game

Monster Hunter Rise (for Nintendo Switch) Review

The excellent Monster Hunter World is a tough act to follow, yet Capcom has risen to the challenge with Monster Hunter Rise. With Rise, Monster Hunter jumps to a new console and engine, delivering what is easily one of the most accessible, innovative, and enjoyable games in the long-running franchise. Rise includes the series' classic, action-RPG elements and behemoth boss fights, and all of World's gameplay improvements. But Rise streamlines things even further by trimming legacy fat and adding enjoyable new features. Its monster roster is somewhat limited, and its end game is sparse, but the $59.99 Monster Hunter Rise brings enough new to the table to make the Nintendo Switch game an easy Editors' Choice pick. Old Weapons, New Tricks Monster Hunter Rise, like the games that came before it, is an action-RPG that tasks you with slaying giant, snarling beasts. However, its most noticeable and substantial change from previous versions involves Wirebugs. These handy insects expel ...

Monster Hunter Rise takes what World introduced and runs with it, delivering a game that streamlines the gameplay and beefs up your kit for maximized man-versus-monster action.

New, fluid movement and attack skills radically expand combat and exploration; Superb skill customization that encourages experimentation; Graphics top the Switch’s previous Monster Hunter installment; Japanese aesthetic and locales make Rise stand apart from previous games

Not enough new monsters; Visual effects can often obscure action, especially in multiplayer; Lacks Master Rank difficulty
