I bought this to plug into a raspberry pi for mycroft plugged in via AUX and does the job nicely. Do not expect the LED light to function as a EQ while plugged in via AUX, seems like that might be Bluetooth only. I sounds pretty good. It is not too loud either, so would be ideal for kids as well.
