LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt hard drive review

At first glance, LaCie's new Rugged Thunderbolt drive doesn't look much different from it's predecessor the Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series, but the company has made some improvements to this iconic drive.

Captive Thunderbolt cable; Good shock and dust protection; Consistant and fast speeds

Bulky case

Huge capacity and top notch build

Used as a library drive with Final Cut Pro X - idea for that purpose and love that the Thunderbolt cable is built in and can't be lost!

Built-in Tb Cable; Durable; Great Features; Massive Capacity

Not cheap

Had to give it three stars as the item, a disk drive, was faulty. Amazon's returns policy is really good though and a new drive is on the way. I have four of these Lacie drives working on my system and this is the first one that has gone wrong for me and I have had no problems with Lacie products in...

LaCie Rugged USB 3.0 & Thunderbolt series

LaCie's Rugged range is designed to offer an extra level of insurance when you're lugging around data on an external drive. It features a bright orange rubber sleeve designed to protect the drive against a 1.2-metre drop, such as sliding off a table or out of your bag.

Solid stuff

Bought to link directly with a new MacBook pro this Hard drive is simple plug and play as is super fast. It will be travelling with me everywhere and this is the reason for this particular drive. This is my second drive now.

So far working well

Now 3 months on, working well as backup disk & good speed for photos & iTunes. Also, has options for connecting ports. I've had a 1GB LaCie Rugged for several years so expecting long lasting & rugged/durable again
