Bought one of these a few years ago for my iMac. No complaints whatsoever so I've bought another one for my laptop. Well made and does what it's supposed to.

If you value design, the LaCie Porsche Design P'9223 Slim is a premium external SSD that has a lot of speed to back up its designer looks.
Speedy read transfer rates; Nice design
Pricey per GB; Relatively low capacity
This hard drive comes with installation software that is 12 years out of date. When I tried to run it on my Macbook I got an error message saying that it would only run on a PowerPC processor. Apple stopped using these processors in 2006 and Motorola stopped making them approximately 8 years ago.
Apple's belated adoption of USB 3.0 in the latest Macs and MacBooks is good news for Mac users, as it means that we no longer have to pay over the odds for Firewire or Thunderbolt drives anymore.
Slim; sturdy design; very good performance
Expensive; only provides 120GB capacity
LaCie slims down its external line-up with the P'9223 Slim to just 11mm. This Porsche Design inspired product might be for you.
This works fantastically well. it reads and writes fast and had no problems with it. Since is light and smaller then the externally powered ones it is great for storing copies of important papers to take with you in case of disaster.

Decent speeds from a USB3 connection; Stylish aluminum case (if you care about such things); Bright indicator light; Convenient length cable about 2.5 feet, good quality one at that; Fairly priced at the time; Idiot-proof works out of the box.
A little pricey based on the designer's name, this cost a premium of maybe 5-7% because of the brand; The 996 inspired blah silver case could bore some
Just what I need when I go out on location. Small, sturdy and can hold 2 terabytes worth of images. Lacie has never let me down.
best external HD yet, small, fast, no need of power supply, i carry it everywhere.
As storage capacity needs increase at work and/or at home naturally so do our portable storage needs and although manufacturers have yet to close the gap between 2.5" and 3.5" external drives (highest capacity 2.5" portable drive currently is 4TB whereas the highest capacity 3.5" desktop has hit...
