More Room & Mobile

I ran out of room on my 16GB stick. I needed something with mobility that I wouldn't accidentally leave behind. This unit has no moving parts. Translation: less things to go wrong and break. It has more room to carry the videos I shoot and now I'm thinking I should have gone for the 64GB stick.

Failed after 3 weeks

I bought two of these drives three weeks ago, and they have both failed. A set of read and write operations that used to take a few seconds now takes over 10 minutes. I have had two of the 16GB drives (Kingston 16GB USB 3.0 DataTraveler I G4 Flash Drive (Blue)) for 4 months and they are both fine.

My Kingston DataTraveler G4 seems to be a bit different. 130MB/s sequential read 20MB/s sequential write 12MB/s random 4k read (3000 IOPS) variable but generally slow random 4k write that can reach up to 1.7MB/s (up to 440 IOPS) Results above is on USB 3.0 This review was modfied by poster @...

Kingston 8GB DataTraveler G4 USB 3.0 Flash Drive

The Kingston 8GB DataTraveler G4 USB 3.0 Flash Drive [DTIG4/8GB] operates perfectly and permits rapid transfer of files, particularly photos.

Very Very Very slow.....

I wish I would've spent the extra 5 bucks and got write speeds of >60MB/s like the other Kingston drive I just purchased. Live and learn I guess

Pros: Holds data; Transfers data

Cons: I couldn't get it to transfer data faster than 8MB/s ; Really! Using a SSHD to a 3.0 usb connection, to a supposedly 3.0 USB drive

USB 3.0? Not even close.

The transfer speeds on this are unbelievably slow. I was actually blown away by the fact that it was allowed to be advertised as USB 3. Source: The 5 hours it took to copy 28GB worth of files onto it.

Great product!

Very lightweight and aesthetically pleasing looks (simple and sleek). I would definitely recommend this product because you're getting a lot of storage for a fantastic price!

Way too slow - Runs at USB 1.1 speeds

I bought three of these, all identical 8GB G4 models, and all three of them are equally slow. It's sold as a USB 3.0 stick and it has the characteristic blue USB 3.0 colored port, but the speeds are so horrific that I simply cannot justify spending $7.00 on one of them, and I'm sure not going to...

Inexpensive

-Too Slow: Consistently getting USB 1.1 speeds on this thing using a USB 3.0 front port on my rig; If I plug a 5400RPM external HDD into the same port I get decent USB 3.0 speeds hovering around 150Mb/s, but this "super fast" flash drive gets maybe 10Mb/s
