The Kindle Paperwhite, with its built-in lighting, near-white background, and high resolution, is today's best Kindle-and the best monochrome e-reader, period. At $119 and $139, the Wi-Fi models justify stopping short of buying a $199 tablet.

Best-in-class display and built-in lighting; Sturdy and sleek; Touch input; Competitive price; Experimental Web browser

No audio features or native ePub support; No AC adapter included; $119 "Special Offers" version mandates ads in the screensaver

Putting paper on notice

The technology world may be aflutter over tablets, but Amazon has proven that the discrete, Shades of Grey reading public still has a soft spot for dedicated eReaders. The Kindle Paperwhite ($199+) builds on the success of a long line of e ink Kindles while incorporating a new proprietary display...

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite REVIEW: This is the Best E-Reader Money Can Buy

It’s amazing what a little light can do to alter the landscape of an entire market. Here we are thinking, “Ok, the e-reader is on its last legs. Time for the tablets to come in and clean up shop.†But these old stalwarts are alive and doing quite well, thank you very much.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Review

With a built in light, an improved touchscreen and an increased screen resolution this is the best Kindle that Amazon have brought out.

Nice reading device.

Very good for reading. It has an internal light so it can look like paper, or it can look like an electronic tablet. The battery life is poor though. It runs out of battery even when turned off. It is touch-screen though, which I do like. I would reccomend it.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review

Thanks to Amazon's unparalleled ebook library and ease of use, the Paperwhite is a fantastic ereader to own. The screen is excellent, both the light and touch elements, and the whole device is well built.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 3G

THE KINDLE PAPERWHITE is Amazon's first touchscreen model with an illuminated screen. It supersedes the Kindle Touch model that came out in the UK in April, which is no longer on sale.

Built-in light; e-ink touchscreen; battery life

Unintuitive interface; tied into Amazon books ecosystem; expensive for 3G; Nothing

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review: the best ereader yet

To say that Amazon has been the single most powerful catalyst in the ebook revolution would not be an exaggeration. Before the introduction of the Kindle , many who adored the printed page universally scoffed at ebook readers, claiming that such devices would never replace the traditional reading...
