Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2013) Review

The new Amazon Kindle Paperwhite improves upon last year's model but doesn't break what worked. Sporting a high-quality display, even light, comfortable design, and speedy performance, it's a good value at $120.

Comfortable design; Excellent display and reading light; Great software offerings and book extras; Speedy performance

Base price includes advertising; No microSD card slot; DRM and file format restrictions lock you to Amazon

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review (2013)

Amazon won the ebook reader war. Like the iPod, the Swiffer, or Jell-O, the Kindle is just what you buy when you want what it does. Barnes & Noble and Sony went down swinging trying to compete, and Kobo and Iriver are but gnats to be swatted by the great Amazon behemoth.

Improved display; faster page-turning; Amazon's bookstore is enormous; Reference materials and options are really useful

Recommendations and ads are hard to distinguish; Still no charger in the box

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

The all-new 2015 version of the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite sends the Kindle Voyage packing. The Voyage already struggled to justify its high $199 price tag beyond the strength of its 1,448-by-1,072-pixel, 300-ppi E Ink Carta screen, and now, the new Paperwhite has the same sharp display, without...

Affordable.Sharp, bright screen; Improved performance; Excellent interface; Cloud-based storage; Vast ebook store

No adaptive backlight; waterproofing; or audiobook support

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Answering the Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight , Amazon's new Kindle Paperwhite features a backlit display that lets you read in the dark without disturbing those around you.

Bright backlight; Long battery life; Lightweight elegant design; Improved user interface; Parental controls

Uneven backlighting; Power adapter not included; 3G option expensive,

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Several reviewers have said that the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is the best E-Ink reader on the market and I agree, with a few caveats. Not everyone wants the same things: some of you may prefer ePub for its greater openness (you can buy books from more sources), others of you may want a card slot or...

Excellent E-Ink display that's sharper with good frontlighting; Slim and light

No expansion slot; no hardware page turn buttons

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2013) Review

Amazon know a thing or two about ereaders, that much is clear from almost every version of the Kindle, and it's never been more apparent than in its 6th generation model. This almost epitomises everything you would expect from an ereader, it's truly an achievement in ereading technology.

The smooth matte-black finish; rounded edges and overall design make it look sleek and luxurious – a definite contender for the ‘best looking ereader' award

The onboard storage remains an issue, 2GB is too small and hardly justifiable; The cloud does offer an alternative option, but there are times when you won't have a Wi-Fi network or 3G available

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Some reviewers prefer the physical page turn buttons like those on the touch-screen Nooks, but most say it's all a breeze whether you're flipping pages or browsing the Kindle bookstore.

Lit display; Crisp; responsive touch screen; Robust feature set; 2-month battery life

Limited ebook format support; Ads on lockscreen

The backlight heavily stunts battery life, but the Kindle Paperwhite is an impressive eReader.

Overall, a very impressive fielding from Amazon in the eReader department. Not only does the Kindle Paperwhite enjoy all the same content availability and support as the other Kindles, but it is the beneficiary of a sizable spec bump and a backlight that enables one of the best all-around eReader...

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 3G (2012) Review

Going by the overall performance and ease of use, not to forget the quality of display, the Paperwhite is undoubtedly one of the best e-readers available in the market. It is available in two variants – you can opt for the Wi-Fi only model that will cost you Rs 10, 999 or the Wi-Fi + 3G model that...

Putting paper on notice

The technology world may be aflutter over tablets, but Amazon has proven that the discrete, Shades of Grey reading public still has a soft spot for dedicated eReaders. The Kindle Paperwhite ($199+) builds on the success of a long line of e ink Kindles while incorporating a new proprietary display...
