Huawei Watch review

We get what Huawei is going for with the Watch. It’s not out to make cheap rubbish, but to land with a splash and establish itself as one of the big names in Android Wear wearables. The problem is that similarly high-end-feeling watches from companies in their second (or third) Android Wear waves are available for £100 less. And the Huawei Watch has a few little creaky first-gen niggles that detract from all the gloss a bit. It also suffers from the same issues as all the other Wear contenders. No one should be paying almost £300 for a Wear watch right now. So wait ’til the Huawei Watch gets cheaper or buy something else.

1.5-day battery sits among the better Wear watches; Looks nice; Ultra-hard Sapphire Crystal top;

Very expensive; A bit sluggish on occasion; HR sensor no good during exercise;

Huawei Watch review

Although it's pricy, the Huawei Watch is best Android Wear smartwatch on the market with its absolutely stunning design and exquisite build quality. There's still work to be done though as the watch lacks GPS, the heart rate monitor doesn't work very well and the charger is bit fiddly.

Huawei Watch Review

Smartwatches are finally starting to look like regular watches. They're also starting to look the same. The recent Motorola Moto 360, for example, resembles a classic timepiece with its circular face, leather band, and crown. The new Huawei Watch is extremely similar, right down to its crown placement and stainless steel case. It's a good look, but its $349.99 starting price and Android Wear operating system might be cause for pause. However, a longer battery life than most smartwatches, a sharp display, and a solid heart rate monitor give the Huawei Watch an edge. Design There are six models of the Huawei Watch available. They come in combinations of black, stainless steel, and rose gold-plated watch cases with black leather, steel link, stainless steel mesh, black-plated link, alligator-pressed brown leather, or rose gold-plated link bracelets. The prices range from $349 to $799 depending on your configuration. The rose gold models are the most expensive and will be available ...

As far as smartwatches go, the Huawei Watch looks great and performs well, but it requires deep pockets and a love for Android Wear.

Attractive design; Nice display; Heart rate monitor; Relatively good battery life

Expensive; Android Wear is an acquired taste

Huawei Watch review: The best-looking Android Wear watch, but still just an Android Wear watch

Huawei -- pronounced "wah-way" -- may not be the first brand that comes to mind when you think of luxury. The Chinese manufacturer is primarily known for its line of affordable Android smartphones. But your opinion of the brand may soon change. After seeing the company's first smartwatch, I know mine has.
