I really wanted to love the Pro the way I've loved the original. I'm giving 4 stars because the headset deserves a 5 but the new lighthouses deserve a 3. When I got the pro, some steam glitches made it have a bunch of issues (Not the fault of the vive) but identifying those issues was made much more...
I wanted NOT to like this. It does help getting an open box at Micro but still costly. At first I hated it but in the end it was that I'd gotten used to Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) Portal. Steam has it's own idiosyncrasies and the Vive too has it's own. You need to get used to each for a few hours.
i brought this as my husbands birthday present, but to be fair i have used it more than him. it was worth getting the more expensive one than others on the market as after research we found out that HTC are making their headsets wifi later this year 2019 and this one is wifi ready it will just need...
The Pro is a definite improvement, but it's only a v1.5 stop gap until the truly next-generation VR devices start to appear and an unfeasibly expensive one at that.
Although the Vive Pro was released back in March, you could previously only buy the headset. You'd then have to purchase motion controllers and base stations separately. The only problem is its price.
ordered all the way from Saudi Arabia, the shipment took less than estimated and the customer support were kind and fast, the Vive pro itself works great I would order more stuff in the future.
I was disappointed to find that I really couldn't do anything with just the headset alone. I guess its my fault for not doing the research but my assumption was that after spending over 800 on a headset, I would receive controllers and the required devices to actually use it.
I have been having so much fun. I waited a month for this but it was well worth the wait. I haven't played with the previous equipment but the tracking works very well. The shells for the 1.0 work on these controllers as well from my experience.
The HTC Vive launched two years ago, it seemed like a side-bet from the Taiwanese tech company. Back then, virtual reality was as much an emerging idea as much as it was an emerging market. However, if their current fiscal condition continues to deteriorate, the Vive may well outlive their smartphones. It hasn’t taken long for the formula for what a modern, consumer-ready VR experience looks like to take a more solid shape - due in no part to the impact and popularity of the original Vive.
The lack of significant differences between the experiences you get out of this and the regular Vive leave the Vive Pro looking more like a luxury product than it is a landmark one.
Best-in-class display resolution; Versatile ergonomics;
Disappointing headphones; Relies on DisplayPort;
