HP ZBook x2

If I had to describe the HP ZBook x2 G4 in one sentence, it would have to be "It's like a Microsoft Surface Pro and its competitors, but way better." The detachable mobile workstation doesn't excite me quite as much when I first saw it -- I really thought it had a 10-bit panel -- but it's still a...

The HP ZBook x2 G4's Adobe RGB-accurate DreamColor matte screen is far more usable than the typical glossy panel; and combined with Wacom EMR's 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity provides brushes that feel more natural than most to work with.

You're limited to the one; single-button stylus; it's relatively heavy and while the battery life is good for its components; it won't get you through the day

Mobile device manufacturers seem to have really stepped things up in the engineering department since the arrival of the Microsoft Surface. After racing to the bottom with netbooks for a time, things turned around, and we've seen an influx of high-quality systems using premiums materials.

DreamColor 4K display; Wacom EMR pen support; Slick design and high-quality build; Samsung SM961 SSD; Detachable Bluetooth keyboard

Expensive; Outdated GPU; Only one USB 3.0 port

HP zBook x2 G4 DreamColor Review

When I first saw the HP zBook x2, it was connected to HP's Sprout Pro interactive 3D scanning hardware at an HP demo event. I was mainly there to cover the new HP Envy x2 with its new Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running full Windows 10, but when I saw the zBook x2 I was very interested.

- Extremely powerful specs; - 100% AdobeRGB color gamut display; - Wacom pressure/tilt sensitive digitizer; - Detachable bluetooth keyboard; - Programmable hardware shortcut buttons in the bezel; - Lots of expansion ports means no dongles; - Lots of security features

Touch screen and Pen drivers don't communicate directly with eachother for palm rejection; Thicker & heavier than less-powerful tablet PCs; Nowhere convenient to keep pen while working

2018 HP ZBook X2 G4 review: This is the best detachable workstation for creative professionals

The 2018 HP ZBook X2 G4 is unlike any other detachable workstation most of us are used to. Most other detachable workstations or tablet/laptop hybrids are super thin and built around the idea of portability and general use.

Processor and memory-intensive business programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator can drag many computers down to a crawl, or even crash them outright. Until now, there hasn't been much to do about it, other than buy a huge workstation and anchor it in a back-office cubical for general use.

HP's Overkill Convertible Makes Your Surface Pro Look Wimpy and Weak

Color-accurate 4K anti-glare display; Detachable Bluetooth keyboard is genius

Heavy; Four hours of battery life is beyond disappointing; No magnetic attachment point for stylus; Too big for your airline tray

Solid device. You get what you pay for.

This device is a great drawing tablet for artists on the go. It is also a great portable computer for gaming. Also works great as a personal streaking device. What I don't like is you cannot remove the battery. So when the battery life decreases over the years. I won't be able replace the battery.

I love this device! Very intelligent design. A nice touch, you can disconnect the keyboard and it's still functional. This allows you to edit with the pen in Photoshop or GIMP with the tablet. You can set the keyboard out of the way of your drawing hand but still use keyboard commands.

Want a laptop that lets you get in a quick Overwatch match after you're done editing some video on its 4K display How about a convertible that lets you crank out screeds even with the keyboard a few feet away

Color-accurate 4K anti-glare display; Detachable Bluetooth keyboard is genius

Heavy; Four hours of battery life is beyond disappointing; No magnetic attachment point for stylus; Too big for your airline tray
