This cartridge was ordered to test whether my 5550n or the cyan cartridge in it (ordered in May 2011) was defective causing a memory tag message to come up on the printer display. The new cartridge worked, indicating it was the older cyan cartridge, and not the printer, that had a problem.

The OEM brand is the only kind that will work in our machine without causing problems.

I ordered what was clearly advertised to be an original HP cartridge in retail packaging. Instead I got a cartridge wrapped in bubble wrap in a plain brown cardboard box. After paying almost $300 for the cartridge, I felt someone was trying to slip something over me.

Many times quality, price and timing are in direct conflict. BH Photo was able to provide this expensive product and an affordable price, in a short amount of time ... a quality not often found in the retail world.

While ordered as new and HP original, the box came mangled with massive amounts of tape holding it together, and had a sharpie writing on it date indicating a date of 2011 as if it was returned from another customer sometime in distant the past. It was even the old product model.

OVERALL, IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH SETTINGS IN YOUR PRINTING PROGRAM FROM YOUR COMPUTER, AND DO NOT CARE MUCH TO HAVE A PERFECT PICTURE, YOU CAN USE THIS MACHINE. TEXT PRINTING IS OK.
