If you think colour laser printing has to be expensive, take a look at HP's newest range of LaserJets. The Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn uses completely redesigned toner cartridges that incorporate the company's new JetIntelligence technology, designed to reduce running costs to an all-time low,...
A lot has been written about the wisdom, or otherwise, of HP's planned corporate split , putting enterprise hardware and services together under one brand while creating a separate company for PCs and printers.
Excellent print quality at up to 40ppm; Up to 33% higher page yield per cartridge; Lower operating temperatures and reduced power requirements; Internal cartridge seals for clean maintenance
High up-front cost of consumable replenishment; No Bluetooth connectivity
"Enterprise," of course, means busy, or relatively high-volume-a whole lot of printing going on. When I wrote this, the M553dn was on sale for $200 off, or $599.99. In either case, a single-function printer would need to be special in one way or another to justify either price, but of course it's a...

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn ($599) leaves off a few of the extras found in the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553x -the new high-end model in the company's 500 series of single-function color laser printers -but it comes in at a much more moderate price.

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn ($599) leaves off a few of the extras found in the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553x ($1,999.00 at Amazon) the new high-end model in the company's 500 series of single-function color laser printersbut it comes in at a much more moderate price. The M553dn ($959.00 at Amazon) is an impressive beast, combining very good speed with superb output quality and an ample feature set. It is considerably faster than the HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color Printer M551dn ($1,730.20 at Amazon) , which it is replacing, both in HP's line and as our Editors' Choice color laser printer for medium- to heavy-duty use in a small to midsize office. Design and Features The M553dn measures 15.7 by 18 by 18.9 inches (HWD), so you'll probably want to put it on a table of its own, and it weighs 60.6 pounds. It helps to have two people to move it into place. The standard paper capacity for the M553dn is 650 sheets, split between a 550-sheet tray and a 100-sheet mult...

This classy, feature-rich printer is fast and cheap to run, and won't be beaten for its extensive print-management tools.
Great cloud printing functionality; Excellent image quality
Inability to use cheaper alternative cartridges
I used the literature and CD that came with the product and the printer was up and running in a matter of minutes. The iphone and ipad print to it wirelessly and the office computers print though the network connection.
Pricey toner undermines this otherwise excellent single-function LaserJet, which is competitively fast and prints well (surprisingly so, with photos).
Fast print speed; Excellent print quality; especially with small fonts; Multiple expansion options; Stylish and well-built
A bit pricey; Full set of four high-yield cartridges is more than $1,000; Wi-Fi module costs extra; Many mobile options unavailable without Wi-Fi upgrade; Cost per page too high
