Fossil Gen 5 review

The Fossil Gen 5 proves that there's still a place for Wear OS in the smartwatch space. Not only does it help showcase the best new software features but its own updated hardware, improved performance and superior power management make it a great all-round smartwatch. Such enhancements have pushed the price up compared to Fossil's previous offerings but it still serves as a competitive alternative to the likes of Apple's and Samsung's latest smartwatches, perhaps more so because it finally tackles one of Wear OS' longest-standing shortcomings.

Some Concerns But Happy With It

I have had this watch for several weeks. As many have mentioned the battery life is not great. It does last me a whole workday that is 8-5. I am very pleased that I do not have to charge it during work. I did let it die completely and it took over 5 hours to recharge from 0%. It was connected to a wall adapter and I do not remember what I did to "fix" it eventually it did charge again. That is my main concern and am worried to let it die again. The watch is water resistant I have not submerged it completely, but it did well while I washed dishes. I was worried the watch would be too big for my wrist (15cm/6in) and look bad, but it does not. The band is very comfortable and easy to adjust the video they have on YouTube is very helpful. I have not figured out how to make calls from my watch without it going to my phone, but the speaker is not terrible. The watch does not lag it is very responsive, I did buy a glass screen protector and it does very well with it on. Going back to the char

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone

I love that I can answer my phone with this watch, I love the Cardio app and all the other apps that it comes with and that you can download. I love the fact that I can personalize the face of the watch. I just love everything about it really lol. The only down fall is I wish it was a little more dainty and girly. Other than that this watch is perfect. I am still finding things that this watch can do that totally shock me.

Love the watch but the rim isn't rose gold. Still recommend!

I haven't had a fossil smartwatch since their Gen2 line and they have come a long way. Although it's slighty larger with the 44mm case, I like the fit on my smaller wrist. The higher performance specs make WearOS run much better than any other smartwatch I've had. My only complaint is the image online makes it look like a true rose gold around the rim, but it's more gold toned than the picture. Still love the look though! Syncs well with my Pixel 3XL phone and I get all of my notifications and the apps I could want. I'd highly recommend over any other WearOS watch on the market.

Easy to use

I love the look and feel of the watch, it's very versatile. I've had it for less than seven days and found that it's extremely easy to use. However, I'm going to exchange the watch because of a flaw around the edge of the face of the watch.

I love this watch

I just got it and am still learning but love all the features! I had a little trouble getting it but customer service worked well with me and got it to me. The only negative thing I would have to say is it's looking like I have to charge it daily. Coming from a fitbit where I only had to charge once a week this will be a change. But I love how much it syncs to my phone even if I'm listening ing to music. Love the speaker and being able to ask Google to set watch alarms etc. Love being able to voice reply to a text along with a full keyboard and set of predictive texts and emojis.

Fossil Gen 5 review: Style overcomes the flaws of Wear OS

Google’s Wear OS watches have a hard time distinguishing themselves, but a few poke their head just above the status quo with slick looks and decent performance. That’s the case with the Fossil Gen 5. The $300 price tag is well within a reasonable range for a stainless-steel, fashion-first Wear OS watch such as this one, but as usual, the problems with Wear OS smartwatches revolve around the software experience, which often feels like an afterthought. Most Wear OS watches try to look like traditional watches, and the Fossil Gen 5 is no different. It does opt for a more understated, masculine look without looking too bold. It fits in just as well at the gym as it does with a suit and tie, though you may want to do some watch face customization, as the preloaded options aren’t particularly pleasing. We reviewed the ‘Carlyle’ style, the more masculine option. There’s also a ‘Julianna’ model that takes a more feminine approach. The differences are entirely cosmetic, as both are the same si...
