Epson Perfection V39 Photo Scanner

I purchased this scanner to replace an old Canon scanner which wasn't supported anymore. For me the size is perfect; it fits right on a shelf next to my computer. The unit scans very quickly and produces very good to excellent scans.

Excellent scanner for the money

The document feeder on my old Epson scanner recently stopped working and I decided to replace with a flatbed scanner, as I have many old photos to scan. For under a hundred bucks, this is a pretty impressive piece of hardware. Downloading and installing the software was a snap.

Perfection v39 scanner

I purchased this to replace my v33 perfection scanner. My 3 in one printer had issues with scanning due to upgrades in the operating system. I love this scanner, energy efficient, compact size, performs as well as it looks.

Epson Perfection V39 Color Photo and Document Scanner

It worked great the first time... The ONE and ONLY time I managed to get it to work! The quality of the scan is great but the software, Epson Scan, that comes with the scanner is buggy. The second time I tried to scan something, the software refuses to work. I'm operating on a Windows 10 system.

Small, efficient, great photo reproduction

I purchased the Perfection V39 just a few weeks ago, but I've had sufficient time to put it to the test. I'd been temporarily entrusted with 270+ family photos and needed to scan them quickly. The reviews on the V39 were quite good, and Best Buy had one in stock.

Epson Perfection V39

The Epson Perfection V39 ($99.99) is basically a throwback to the kind of flatbed scanner that used to be standard. Most flatbeds today can scan film, a design choice that's largely a response to the popularity of MFPs, which rarely include film-scan capability.

High-quality photo scans; Fully automatic mode for easy scanning; Scans to editable text and searchable PDF formats

No film-scan capability; Lacks bundled applications

a real workhorse!

I have been delighted with my Perfection V39 in the 3 months since buying it. I have produced hundreds of sheets of music for my local orchestra - all to a high standard. I would certainly recommend it. The easily detachable lid is a very useful addition when scanning thicker volumes.

Epson Perfection V39 Review

The Epson Perfection V39 ($99.99) is basically a throwback to the kind of flatbed scanner that used to be standard. Most flatbeds today can scan film, a design choice that's largely a response to the popularity of MFPs, which rarely include film-scan capability. The V39 ($99.99 at Amazon) leaves out the ability to scan film, so you don't have to pay for the feature if you don't need it, and focuses instead on giving you higher-quality scans for photographic prints than most MFPs can manage. More important, it delivers enough to make it our new Editors' Choice for a budget home scanner for high-quality photo scanning. There are only a few general-purpose flatbeds today that share the V39's lack of a film-scanning feature, including the Canon CanoScan LiDE 120 Color Image Scanner ($298.99 at Amazon) , which is our preferred pick for a budget home scanner for snapshot-quality photo scans; the Canon CanoScan LiDE220 Color Image Scanner ($366.99 at Amazon) , which the V39 replaces as ...

The Epson Perfection V39 flatbed scanner is an excellent choice if you want to scan photographic prints, as well as short documents to searchable PDF and editable text formats. It's our top budget pick for high-quality photo scanning.
