U2412M: A flexible, good-quality 24-inch display

The Dell U2412M did well in our recent roundup of 23- and 24-inch monitors . It offers screen quality that's almost as good as that of the top-ranked HP ZR2440w , for a little less money. Plus, its design is flexible and efficient.

Ergonomically flexible design

Dell UltraSharp U2412M

Dell UltraSharp monitors have a reputation for offering solid color performance with a generous, business friendly feature set, and the UltraSharp U2412M ($369 direct) lives up to that reputation.

Very good color quality; Loaded with features; Affordably priced; Energy Efficient

No HDMI port; Lacks auto-pivot support; Small text could be cleaner

Dell U2412M

Out of-box measurements show that Dell's monitor has fairly good color characteristics in the Standard preset. Colors are not 100 % accurate and slightly too reddish (because of too low color temperature).

IPS panel & picture quality; Fairly good out-of-box settings; Ergonomic adjustability; 16:10 format panel; Price; No serious clouding; Power consumption

Black depth not on par with VA panels; Dirty screen look; Some overdrive trailing; Black gets lighter from wide angles; No HDMI

Dell U2412M

The new Dell U2412M monitor is a more basic version of the ever-popular Dell U2410.  Dell is hoping to meet the needs of its most demanding users for a more affordable monitor by removing some of the

Dell UltraSharp U2412M

The U2412M is one of a dying breed. With most PC monitors adopting the 16:9 aspect ratio and Full HD resolution, this Dell's 24in IPS panel perseveres with the old- school 16:10 ratio to give an extra 120 pixels of vertical resolution.

Dell U2412M

A full in depth look at the new 24" IPS and LED screen from Dell in their UltraSharp range. How does the new model perform and how does it compare to the Dell U2410 and competition?

Very competitive price point; Excellent black depth and contrast ratio; Good pixel responsiveness and low input lag

Some missing features like card reader and HDMI compared with the older models; Dynamic contrast ratio does not work in practice; Some luminance uniformity issues

Dell Ultrasharp U2412M review

Dell is a very popular monitor manufacturer and the U2412M is its latest mid-range 24in model. It costs over £200 but while you can pick up similarly-sized screens for less, the Dell Ultrasharp U2412M has some very useful features.

Good but not great

Even at four years after it was introduced, the U2412M remains an excellent overall performer in its price range. It is a comfortable screen to work with. Color accuracy and useable contrast are good, and viewing angles excellent.

We have half a dozen of these monitors in our office; Newegg's latest price reduction spurred another buy; We are a photography shop, and use these panels as second or third displays for holding palette panels, open documents, etc; The U2412M is getting to be old and is being replaced by the U2415.

Out-of-box color and gamma calibration are all over the place; As mentioned above, this isn't an issue if you have a monitor calibration tool available
