I had high hopes for this game. It has a fantastic art-style & great voice acting, but its let down by the broken game mechanics & incohesive story line. There are only four maps, so you will find yourself repeating the same pathways over & over, sometimes mistakenly for the same objective. For example, if you stumble upon a Visionary (one of the eight bosses) and defeat them, if it isn't a tracked objective you will not only have to repeat the process (ie. the entire map, which you have to backtrack to the start to be able to save your progress!), but you also do not earn their Slab (superpower). This is a very annoying oversight by the developers. You get to the point where you couldn't care less about the story & you're just chasing objectives. Very unfortunate.
DEATHLOOP is interesting for many reasons ranging from narrative, weaponry, and obtained character powers. While it has you play the same day over and over, exploration and stealth sleauthing are key. The areas in which you can explore, the times of day that you can visit, and the wealth of secrets able to be discovered keeps the experience engaging. Then of course, you could just go in guns blazing repeatedly until the visionaries' deaths become tiresome. However, if you liked Prey and Dishonoured, you'll love DEATHLOOP.
I'm a fan of Arkane Games' work, so I was pleased this had a few throwbacks to their earlier releases such as Dishonoured, Thief and Prey. What I was not expected was such a well designed intricate game. The world they've created is a puzzle - or more accurately - numerous elaborate puzzles interwoven with one another. I've sunk 20+ hours into this game and am still preparing for my big time heist to take on the game's boss. Highly recommended.
Deathloop offers an engaging blend of shooting and stealth in one endlessly looping day. It leaves a lot of room for players to experiment with their preferred approach to combat and exploration, which makes it stimulating and exciting to play. A multiplayer invasion mode, too, has so much potential if it actually takes off – it could keep you playing for many hours more. Deathloop won't be for everyone, but its mix of ideas comes together so confidently that it's easily a game of the year contender for us.
An exciting mystery to unpick; Shooting is genuinely fun; Multiplayer has potential;
Repetition sets in during final third; Focuses a bit too much on stealth; Enemies are mostly identical
A seamless blend of superb action and organic exploration; A unique and gripping story ; A stunning world that you’ll be gagging to explore again and again ;
Tracking leads and missions doesn’t always work as they should; The combat may feel a little unchallenging to Dishonored veterans; The ending may be dissatisfying to some;
Deathloop is slick, stylish, sophisticated, and immensely good fun. There's no end to the imaginative ways you can finish off enemies, and thanks to the very premise of the time loop, you can endlessly experiment with your powers and weapons – every run can be entirely different – without ever thinking the way you play is "wrong". It's a triumph, flawless in pretty much every way from its style to its soundtrack, throat-punching its way into the annals of video game history where, like Deathloop's Eternalists, it'll likely live on forever.

Deathloop is an absolute masterpiece. The story keeps you engaged for 15+ hours, and the online mode as rival assassin Julliana continues the fun indefinitely. Brave Arkane Lyon.
A real gem of a game; a puzzle to figure out over time - but one that lets you approach its scenarios in myriad ways. It's a treat for PS5 and PC gamers (and eventually Xbox owners in 2022).
Engaging core concept; Great sense of fun; Constantly beautiful visual design; Real freedom of approach;
PS5 performance hiccoughs; Can be repetitive if you screw up;
