The Director's Cut remains as divisive as the original, although the many PS5-exclusive tweaks and improvements make it easier to get into for newbies or those who have upgraded. Hideo Kojima's world is both beautifully realised and, simply, beautiful to look at, with the graphics even better represented on improved hardware. However, if you didn't like the look of it before, there's little to reel you back in. It continues to be gaming's Marmite, that's for sure. We, however, love the pace and sheer beauty of this unusual adventure.
Stunningly beautiful game - even more so on PS5; Loads of extras including new gear and structures; Quality-of-life improvements make the gameplay easier to get into; Haptics and adaptive trigger help with immersion;
Still as bamboozling as ever; A lot of cutscenes in the beginning several hours' worth of play; Some players might just find the main gameplay repetitive and dull;
