DJI Osmo Pocket

In the meantime, there are some things DJI could do via firmware updates to improve the Pocket experience. It's already pushed out one big update, so we'll see if there are others that further enhance it.

Easily portable; Crisp, stable 4K video at up to 60fps; Time-lapse and panoramic stitching options; Strong battery life

Autofocus issues; So-so low-light performance; Requires phone or add-on control wheel for best experience; Promised accessories not yet on sale

DJI Osmo Pocket

So, I put 4 stars instead of 5 to get your attention! For a consumer rather than pro product, this should get 5 stars - but there are a couple of lacking features that might bother even the consumer customer.

Fantastic camera

Being an owner of multiple DJI products, I knew this product would be just as great. I always have this camera with me. You can use as a stand alone or connect with it using your phone. I also use it mounted to the windshield of my car and operate it with my phone. Don't go on vacation without one.

DJI Osmo Pocket review

In truth, the biggest problem facing the Osmo Pocket is necessity. It’s fun, intuitive and impressively capable, delivering footage so stable it makes tripods jealous. But who is it for? Videographers won’t be tempted away from the quality and versatility of pro kit; thrillseekers will want something more durable; vloggers will bemoan the lack of livestreaming; and, while the smartphone crowd might like the idea of smoother shooting, the £329 price tag makes the Pocket far from a pocket-money purchase. So it’s a niche thing, neither accessory nor standalone camera, priced like a proper compact but best used with your mobile. Does that make it a bad product? Absolutely not. In fact, it was the most enjoyable filming experience I’ve had since my very first camcorder, sprinting gleefully across the garden while in awe of the little gimbal’s stunning stability. I’m just not sure I’d pay for it.

Super-smooth and ever-steady; 4K footage looks delicious at 60fps; Shooting modes make Hollywood shots a cinch;

Fiddly to control without accessories; Things gets toasty on the highest settings; App can be pretty glitchy;

Great addition to your gear bag!

I normally use a Canon M50 to shoot my Vlogs but this camera gives me so much more flexibility. I don't always use a gimbal for my shoots, and gimbals takes time to set-up and balance. So this Osmo pocket is a game changer.
