The DJI Osmo Pocket is a three-axis gimbal with a permanently attached camera sensor. When you connect the Osmo Pocket to your compatible smartphone, it becomes a fully-contained photography and filmmaking tool that literally fits in your pocket.

Literally pocket-sized Starts up fast Easy to use Lots of fun video/photo modes Works well with or without a smartphone

No tripod mount Usage limited without buying accessories Android app missing features Still photography features very limited

DJI Osmo Pocket

In the meantime, there are some things DJI could do via firmware updates to improve the Pocket experience. It's already pushed out one big update, so we'll see if there are others that further enhance it.

Easily portable; Crisp, stable 4K video at up to 60fps; Time-lapse and panoramic stitching options; Strong battery life

Autofocus issues; So-so low-light performance; Requires phone or add-on control wheel for best experience; Promised accessories not yet on sale

DJI Osmo Pocket Camera Review: Supersmall, Superstable

The DJI Osmo Pocket is a tiny camera that can fit in your pocket and take really smooth video, but it's not for everyone.

Good-quality video and photos; Gimbal lets you take very steady video; Robust controls and features

Moving gimbal can get damaged

DJI Osmo Pocket review: A pocket-sized powerhouse

The new DJI Osmo Pocket is a well executed 4K camera for the mobile videographer. A 3-axis stabilized Gimbal makes for a new breed of action camera.

The DJI Osmo Pocket Feels Like the Camcorder of the Future

We didn't know what to think about the Osmo Pocket when DJI announced the device earlier this month. It's basically a tiny drone camera and three-axis gimbal on a stick. There's a little screen so you can see what you're filming and some smart features that help you track subjects.

Fantastic image stabilization and neat shooting modes

DJI Osmo Pocket

So, I put 4 stars instead of 5 to get your attention! For a consumer rather than pro product, this should get 5 stars - but there are a couple of lacking features that might bother even the consumer customer.

DJI Osmo Pocket

DJI Osmo Pocket is the easiest way to record stabilized 4K video and fluidly moving time lapses without having to carry around a full-sized DSLR gimbal and bulky camera gear.

Miniaturized gimbal stabilization; Records 4K video up to 60fps; Easy smartphone attachment; Amazing motion time lapses

Audio isn't great in all situations; Not nearly as durable as a GoPro; Accessories are separate purchases

DJI Osmo Pocket review: Sensational stabilisation in the palm of your hand

DJI is one of the most innovative companies in the world when it comes to cameras and drones. From its drones' almost magical object tracking and obstacle avoidance, to the ever-so-handy Osmo handheld gimbals for capturing super-smooth stabilised video.

Super smooth footage without the scale; Portable design; Easy to use; Stabilised slow-mo is awesome; Powerful and versatile tracking modes; Battery life is great considering its size

Modular connectors are small and potentially easy to lose; Phone physical connection not sturdy; 1-inch screen is small and difficult to see clearly

DJI Osmo Pocket Review

The Osmo Pocket is the world's smallest 4K camera with a three-axis mechanical gimbal. Designed for vloggers, YouTubers and budding Edgar Wrights, it's about the size of a Mars bar and weighs just 116g.

Shoots smooth; stabilised video in all lighting conditions; Incredibly compact and genuinely pocketable; App offers lots of depth and versatility; Great vlogging mode; Good battery life for its size

Needs accessories to unlock its full potential; Autofocus can occasionally be sluggish; Audio quality is only average; Not waterproof without a case; No livestreaming

DJI Osmo Pocket review: Rock-steady Eddie

These issues are disappointing, but there's still a lot to love about the DJI Osmo Pocket. It shoots video that's not only fantastic in terms of its quality, but that's also rock steady, whether you're standing still, walking, riding or running.

3-axis stabiliser gives rock steady video; Lots of useful modes to play with; Shoots at up to 4K 60fps

No wireless built in; Not waterproof without case; Lacks a tripod thread
