The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is a truly flexible drone, small enough to be carried in a big pocket and with the ability to create capture moments on a family holiday or impressive content for a professional editing environment.

Earlier this month, DJI pulled the curtain back on two new drones : the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom - arguably two of the most advanced drones the company (or any company for that matter) has ever released.

Drones are cool. They can fly, they are fun to fly and they can capture some solid images. But, I’ve always thought that they were way too inconvenient to set up, way too bulky to move around, with way too short of a flight time. Then I got to spend some time with the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom .

The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is a versatile machine that's fun to fly, and it would make an excellent addition to any photographer or videographer's kit-bag. Easy-to-use DJI Go 4 app; Configurable controller w/ display; Automated Quickshot modes are impressive; Omnidirectional obstacle-avoidance; 3-axis gimbal and camera w/ zoom is buttery smooth; 30 minute flight time

Pricey; especially when you add important options; 3rd-party hardware required to use with tablets

You might have expected, given the extra zoom facility, the extra sensors and new design, that DJI would whack a huge premium on the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. Amazingly, though, it's the same price as the original Mavic Pro.

Camera still only has a 2/3in sensor; Remote controller is fiddly to set up

I'd point customers looking at the Zoom to the DJI Mavic Air. When we reviewed the $799 Air we thought that it was worth it to spend a little bit more on the Mavic Pro Platinum, which debuted at a lower price than the Mavic 2 Zoom.

This new addition to the DJI collection is worth the wait and value for my money. I am enjoying owning this and play around with the zoom capabilities. Superb and looking forward to some accessories to come out.

Excellent Drone. Arguably the best on the market. So many sensors its difficult to do anything wrong :)

Image quality-obsessed enthusiasts should go with the stellar Pro, but regular users will find this cheaper model almost as impressive
