We're busy working our way through the new crop of AC1200 routers. Tim recently reviewed D-Link's DIR850L and NETGEAR's R6100 and Scott took a look the TRENDNet TEW-811DRU . This time, I'm looking at D-Link's DIR-860L . D-Link has quite a few AC routers in its current lineup.

BE HAPPY. Very happy

Converting from a 802.11n (maximum throughput of 300 Mbps) to this beast (1200Mbps over two bands) was such a relief - we had bars of wireless in all portions of our condo, but insufficient throughput to actually pull a streaming video down anywhere but the room in which the router was housed; now,...

No Problems since install

I am not doing some port forwarding and using OpenDNS for filtering. Multiple devices, both wired and wireless. Handles everything else perfectly. No complaints, would buy it again.

Everything just works; Increased range and speed over my old Buffalo WHR

D-Link COVR's got you COVRed! D-Link COVR (C1203) Review

D-Link COVR-C1203 is seamless, smart, and reliable. It breathes life to the dead corners of your home or office, spots where connectivity seems to be in the oblivion and it does this seamlessly.

D-Link Covr-C1203

A user-friendly mesh networking kit at a competitive price, though lacking in some advanced features and ultimate performance

Easy setup via smartphone app; Good performance on 5GHz; Nodes are easy on the eye

Performance on 2.4GHz is disappointing; Power adapter design is poor

D-Link Covr C1203: A big name enters the mesh Wi-Fi arena

D-Link's first bash at a whole-home Wi-Fi system performs respectably enough, but if speed is your priority then you'll probably be better off with one of the Covr's established rivals.

Decent coverage; Compact design; WPS button

Basic feature set; No USP

D-Link Covr Dual Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System (Covr-C1203)

If you're looking for easy-to-use parental controls with age-defined presets that block access to adult content, gambling, and social media sites, the Editors' Choice TP-Link Deco M9 Plus is your best bet.

Good throughput performance; Fast, easy installation; MU-MIMO support; Low-profile, stylish design

Limited parental controls; Advanced settings require web console; Lacks anti-malware protection

I'm using the EE 4G Home SIM which does not work with this router out of the box. This meant that I had to connect via ethernet to perform a firmware update to add support for EE.

No real change

The coverage doesn't really increase the noticeable band width.
