Creative Sound BlasterX Katana review: The soundbar finally makes its way to PCs

Considering the burgeoning popularity of soundbars in living room setups, it’s surprising they’re mostly missing in action on the PC side of things. By and large, the PC has stuck to 3.5mm input dual-speaker systems, occasionally with a subwoofer included. It’s strange for a few reasons:

Tired of all the clutter on your desk? Creative’s Sound BlasterX Katana brings the soundbar to the PC. Big sound, small form factor, and one eye-popping price tag.

Sleek package compared to most PC speakers; Easily tuneable audio and plenty of volume; Software is simple and unobtrusive;

Subwoofer has a hard time keeping up at high volumes; RGB lighting missing some obvious customizations; Audio doesn’t sound as wide or directional as 2+ discreet speakers;

Creative Sound BlasterX Katana review: The under-monitor audio setup to get

For $300, you can dramatically improve your gaming audio setup.

Sound quality; Design of the soundbar; Lighting is subtle and can be turned off; Decent connection options

Subwoofer is big and not built as well as the soundbar; The only Bluetooth codec available is AAC

It took me a while to find a decent speakers for my gaming rig and I'm happy to tell you that I'm pleased with this soundbar at the begging I was skeptic but I was like "what the hell lets give a try" and I do not regret my decision.

Creative Sound BlasterX Katana Computer Soundbar

I was sitting at a restaurant with a group of friends one Sunday afternoon after church when a couple of girls started talking about makeup. "I spend an hour every day putting on makeup before I leave the house," the first girl said. "I just do not leave the house without it.

Creative Sound BlasterX Katana Multi-channel Gaming Soundbar

When Creative first announced they were bringing the world's first gaming under-monitor audio system to CES this year I was cautiously intrigued. I mean, how good could a sound bar be given the limited form factor.

Built in Sound card functionality; Great Amp/DAC solution; Class leading sound quality; Could easily double as a home theater sound bar; Powerful amps; Easy to use software controls; Includes an IR Remote

Requires software for many features; Stand height is not adjustable; No headphone toggle; No sound activated lighting mode; really?
